Not Only Were There Numerous Bad Connections, But One Cell Had Failed

Thereby Bringing The 12 Volt System Down To A 10 Volt One, Tis No

Wonder The Battery Charger Had A Mental And Physical Meltdown.

But As I Sit Here With The Sun Setting And The Solar Panels Only Putting

Out 4 Amps, I Have A Surface Voltage Of 13-2 Volts, Whilst I Have Two

50 Watt Lights On (7amp load), Not Bad For A Set Of Batteries That Are

34 Years Old......Yep You Read That Right, They Were Made In 1976 By Excide

For Australian Telecom As Stand-By Batteries In The East Orange Telephone

Exchange.

Their Policy Was To Sell Batteries When They Were Between 10 And12

Years Old, And Thats When They Were Offered To Me.

Beautifully Built With Clear Cases And Plates So Thick You Could Almost

Butter Them And Pass Them Off As Slices Of Toast....

They Don't Build Em Like That Anymore....

have u ever bought electronics off ebay.. my friend does electronic salvage store on there and he sold some stuff to your part of Australia

 

glen you can get more efficient lighting .. are these Halogen lamps, Never seen a lamp in the 50watt range .. 25,40.60, 75, 100...

 

I Have Never Bought Anything Off E-Bay, Before I Buy Something I Have To View

It In Person, Even If It Means Driving A Few Hundred Km's.

In My Opinion No Pic Regardless Of The Definition, Replaces The Human Eye,

And The Ability To Judge Eye To Eye Wether The Seller Is Lying To Me....

But Maybe, Just Maybe, GLEN Is A Trifle Old Fashioned In This Regard....

I Use Halogen Globes In 10..20..35..50..and 100 Watts, Some Of The Lights That

Were Very Hard To Access In The "Cathedral Ceiling" Part Of The

House, I Power With A 240 Volt 500 Watt Inverter, Twas Easier To Do It This

Way Than Remove About 10 Sheets Of Roofing Iron To Run The 12 Volt Cables....

I Also Run "Cold Cathode" Lighting Which Is The Most Energy Efficent

You Can Get Other Than The New Generation Of L.E.D's, And I HATE

The Cold Blue Sterile Light L.E.D's Put Out.

I thought so, the wattage was to odd to be any other.. We had some track light that were 50watts halogens .. they threw some heat..

 

Just might be able to get out of the holler today.....;-)
