for me one died when i was 1...the other when i was maybe 23 or 24

 

I only met one grandfather twice. He was a silent, large, angry man. But had a very imposing presence.

 

my dad told me that his dad had a different car every month because he was a hardcore card player and would routinely win and lose different cars....that grampy escaped from russia and eventually wound up in toronto...i think he passed on the addictive personality gene to me

 

All four of my grandparent died in the last 10 years. My oldest grandfather was a character. He was in church once and literally yelled out during the sermon "I can't hear a god damn thing he's saying!" He had lost most of his hearing working in the mines up in Alaska.

 

I feel in a good mood this morning. Hopefully it lasts all day.

On this day in 1916 during the Battle of the Somme, in France, tanks were first used in warfare when the British rolled them onto the battlefields.

 

I woke up to a VERY nice greeting from someone I really like this morning.

 

I am apparently dreaming of members of this site now...
