random question i have...

there's quite a few things in the bible that are listed as sinful that make no sense now. but i guess in the past, in very small societies baed on a patriarchal property standard, they're purely practical. gay sex doesn't bring heirs. premarital sex and adultery doesn't assure that the child the woman gives birth to is her husband's blood heir. bastardy left a woman with no real resources for providing for her child, since men owned the property. eating pork was unreliable because they didn't really know how to cook all the nasty bugs out of it. stuff like that. i don't really get all temperamental about it. people were just trying to keep things going as best they could with their limited resources and understanding. they weren't really being mean and hateful, i think. just because it ended up that way way after the fact because it became a religious thing has no real bearing on how i live my life. i still love people. not giong to stop just because they have some stupid ideas.
