Themnax's quote above is the one I'm thinking about the most. All of us are part of the system. All of our actions (and non-actions) have consequences, potentially endless ripples. I'm not sure it's possible to do or not do anything without there being both a positive and a negative impact. I think the trick is to try to do things that will on balance do more good than harm
security by obscurity, and polluting their databases with bogus and/or irrelevant information can help. implicit is better than explicit ... unless you're writing a computer program (code is much easier to read and debug when it's clear, and not obscure ... but there are legitimate reasons to obfuscate code).
My wife is mad at me because I've drank too much beer waiting for our red-eye to Delhi. But I have a soft spot in my heart for airport bars.
I almost got in a fight with a guy in a store the other day. There were two lines and I had been waiting in the one line and the cashier in my line started helping the dude in the other longer line (the two lines were for different things, so the employee wasn't doing his job properly) ... I said "wait a minute, WTF, this is a seperate line, you're in that line" .. he was like "that's rude man, fuck that line" and kept looking at me, and i just stared back. He was like "you got a problem", I was like "do you, cuz I might!". I went up to him and he tried to push me back and I pushed him back and he said "touch me again and I'll beat your ass" (he touched me first lol).... so I grabbed his shirt at the chest pulled it back and flicked his chest pushing him back a bit and just looked at him in the eyes and said "beat my ass, do something motherfucker, I'll destroy ur ass if you fuck wth me." He was like "I don't wanna go to jail, but I'll be waiting on ur ass when I come outside". I told him no, I'll be waiting on you cuz I got shit to do so you better hurry up and get outside ... i'lll be there. Stayed out there watching the exits for a few minutes, then went back into the store found the guy .. he looked surprised as fuck. I said "get ur fucking ass out here outside, I'm not gonna wait all day". He was "like man just fuckin go man, Im not going to jail", and i was like "yeah, that's cuz ur scared, pussy ass ... BITCH"! You should have seen the look of shame and humiliation on his face. and he didnt say anything back when i said that, just kinda looked down a the floor. He thought I would be scared and just leave before he came out and when he knew I was really going to fight him he didn't wanna really do it. He had a big mouth but wouldn't back it up. He was a bit bigger than me but not huge, I wasn't scared of him; and knew that he was mostlly talk and thought he could intimidate me without having to actually fight. He was wrong. Don't know how the fight would have turned out, but he would have probably ended up getting hurt, or both of us a little, but his build was the type that would make him easy to trip and fall hard.
My daddy always taught me you gotta put them at arms reach. He did boxing when he was younger and was quite good at it. Was actually a sparring partner for a top German boxer at the time but back then he says a sparring partner really meant you had to take hits and not able to punch back. He taught me (as I'm right handed) jab with the lefts, hammer with the right. Never throw the first punch. Never punch off balance. I've never had to have a real fight, but I have a boxing bag and that's a good work out. All my friends come over and they always hurt their wrists. I tell them you have to twist your wrist, never just throw a punch the connection is all in the turn of the wrist at the end. Now if I remember correctly, daddy said that was so that your knuckles would catch friction, and then the turn of the wrist will eventually split the skin. But I find on the bag that it keeps your wrists from getting injured too.
Some people like to talk a lot of shit because they're bullies and think they can intimidate people. Eventually these people end up getting hurt badly, when they try that shit with the wrong person and get send to the hospital. Some people are fucking stupid, I think he just wanted to make himself look like a though badass "thug" and impress someone ... ended up just looking like a punk lol. He might have been able to beat my ass, but I think he was intimadated by the fact that I he didn't get a fear reaction from me (he was expecting me to be afraid of him). I've noticed that, most of the altercations I've been in start and end mostly the same way. There was this one time that this teenage thug was in a restaurant where I was just minding my own business. He kept saying things to his little brother, in a way that wasn't obvious that he was talking about me (to fuck with me, how am I supposed to respond to this, I'm not sure if he's really talking about me or it just seems that way" but he kept looking over at me. So I eventually confronted him about it and asked him why he kept looking over at me saying shit like that. He told me to "watch my back" ... I slammed his head into the brick wall and fucked him up. Said "he was gonna stab me next time he sees me" after that...yeah right, your never gonna see me again and I'm not gonna take some bullshit from some teenage gangsta wannabe. Some people I know its better just to walk away from, cuz some people will actually stab you or whatever. I don't think there's such a thing as a fair fight, and if the person is stronger than me, I'm not gonna give them a chance to get an advantage, rather do my best to take them out before they have a chance to know what hit them if I think they're a real threat. I rarely get in fights though, I'm an incredibly nice guy and never start anything ... it's just some people wanna show off by acting like idiots.
currently looking for FOSS supportive laptop options. I could get a Mac, but Macs are expensive as fuck, and I have no clue if new Macs are using tyrannical binary whitelisting or other firmware BS now .... I can get a much better machine, and fullly open source for less $, fuck the mainstream mobile computer manufacturers. Some of the vendors such as Dell and HP offer "developer editions" ... but they are much more expensive. That's what I need, developer shit ... but fuck the mainstream vendors they're in it with the NSA and the corporations like Microshaft! There are options to build my own laptop box, but its a bit too expensive. I think i've found a good one though and fully supports FOSS that's not too expensive, and far less expensive than a less powerful Mac, i.e a Mac that's less powerful than this FOSS notebook costs about twice as much.
try fry's. go bare bones and populate it yourself. box, power supply, motherboard, get one with plenty of slots, cpu, drives, driver and whatever other periferal cards you need. you can do it all with board level products, without ever having to touch a soldering iron or know ohm's law. for laptops, yah, you're kinda stuck there. i'm not familiar with whatever this foss standard is. but if you can go with a short or full tower box, (instead of a laptop) you can put it together however you want. you're still stuck with today's bios roms, and system registry crap, which makes plug and play possible but also denying you access to parts of your own hardware possible too, although with enough rocket science there are ways around that too.
I already have a tower box, that I assembled myself, picking all the all the hardware components I wanted. And this box is a linux beast ... and with this box I can do pretty much anything you can do with a compuer, I can fuck with the hardware all I want, install any NIC change MACs and all of that and more. For some reason this wlan vendor/product id whitelisting and now more recently common binary whitelisting seems to be more of an issue with mainstream vendor *laptops* and I know exacrly why I think and the reason isnt good at all. Being a mobile device, it would be much more likely to say, be stolen or something, so the amount of security I would want on a laptop exceeds what would be needed for a desktop where its in my home and unlikely to get stolen where an attacker has physical access to the machine, They dont want laptops having good security and there is something very wrong with that picture...:/ The only thing we can do is to boycot manufacturers who implement this tyoe of BS and refuse to buy their products. Security and privacy (freedom) is important to me, especially in a laptop where I'd be carrying it around outside and using it places where the opportunity exists that it gets stolen, then the thief has physical access...and this is why you use full disk crypto on laptops...all the attacker would be able to recover would be meaningless crypto garbage so long as the machine is not logged on or powered on when stolen. If I thought that Was about to happen i would kill the power, pull the battery ... or corrupt the system memory before they had a chance to stop that process. I dont use full disk crypto on my desktop box, due to overhead, but do encrypt important data.
yes, I do....! Wow, what a day, night....gathering...fun....I was sad to leave.....too many people there I love, love, love....I told them they are my family now and i love them all....they said the same to me many times....Filet mignon, shrimp, pasta, mashed potatoes, chicken marsala...eggnog....Yay! I tasted eggnog for the first time tonight and LOVE it...I had one small taste with nutmeg and not any lacing in it, and then asked for a little more, and they spiked it for me with rum...i liked it better plain....but I drank the laced one, anyway....and then we ate and i drank lots of water and seltzer, so i never felt buzzed.....I asked them where to get that brand of eggnog,...and now, i want to go buy some before the season ends......What didn't they have to drink or eat there? Unbelievable...i ate mostly shrimp with cocktail sauce......I love all three kids, and the little girl of 7 years old is so sweet....they all are. I read her the friends forever card on the Madame Alexander doll, and she was so touched and looked like she was going to cry. She and I have such a bond, as well, as i have with her 9 year old brother....I love their mother, my neighbor's daughter....and she is my new best friend...i just click with that one and we talk and talk and talk about so many things very comfortably.....There were 11 other people there...and Stan and i made 13....but getting gifts bags and stockings for 11 different people together made me like a chicken without a head for the last few weeks....but I hit home runs with all of the gifts.... i got a crystal elephant on a pedastal...beautiful......a huge basket of all kinds of foods and 3 canvasses to paint on.... What an amazing beautiful time that I never wanted to end. I am still panicked....as i have been in overdrive ever since before thanksgiving, and it has not stopped yet......I need time to quiet down again and clear my head....so much packed into a month.....run, run,. run... Back to normal, soon, I hope, too......hardly any sleep either, in the last month. Yes, I am still hyper here.
My crystal elephant...I love this.....and because my neighbor's elderly mom remembered and LISTENED when i told everyone there I loved elephants on July 4 when I was there with everyone last...that is what makes this such a special gift...the elephant has gold on ears, trunk and places, but I cannot get a good photo of it yet. The trunk up on elephant on things and tolkens is meant to bring good luck.... Reminds me ...i want to change my avatar to something else tonight. I don't want to see my santa painting anymore..... I made out like a bandit this year with the gift department...... oh, yeah, I was with everyone for the husbands birthday last month party, and everyone was there, too...duh....My mind is skipping beats lately....lol This elephant is from his mom. He turned 57 last month. I made him the painting of his house.
i wouldn't have anything against elephants if the republican party in the u.s. hadn't made it their symbol. i pretty much ignore them because it has. which i realize isn't fair to the species. the actual elephant species probable has better sense.
People in Africa and countries like India hate on elephants because they trample their crops and stuff, and find it a good reason to chase them away or even kill them. Maybe ignoring them is not so bad.
