That man in digitalldj's sig is real hip hop! Modern hip hop is like most music genres in the sense that the commercial stuff sucks, but there are talented artists about. I'm not saying most people would like real hip hop merely understand its not all about bling bling and all that crap you see on MTV! Immortal Technique is one of the best rappers out now, although he is unsigned and critisises America, Bush, Capitalism, the Illuminati etc so he's not going to get exposure. Not that he wants it, he knows record companies just use you, so he prefers selling CD's out of his trunk. Here are the lyrics to one of his songs, The 4th Branch [Talking] The new age is upon us And yet the past refuses to rest in its shallow grave For those who hide behind the false image of the son of man shall stand before God!!! It has begun The beginning of the end Yeah.. Yeah... yeah, yeah [Verse 1] The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu'ran They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy Conservative political right wing, ideology Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave? Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism? Human rights violations, we continue the saga El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism [Hook] It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change They wanna rearrange the whole point of view of the ghetto The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle A bandana full of glittering, generality Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality? Read about the history of the place that we live in And stop letting corporate news tell lies to your children [Verse 2] Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs Broken apart like a woman's heart, abused in a marriage The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage Embedded correspondents don't tell the source of the tension And they refuse to even mention, European intervention Or the massacres in Jenin, the innocent screams U.S. manufactured missles, and M-16's Weapon contracts and corrupted American dreams Media censorship, blocking out the video screens A continent of oil kingdoms, bought for a bargain Democracy is just a word, when the people are starvin' The average citizen, made to be, blind to the reason A desert full of genocide, where the bodies are freezin' And the world doesn't believe that you fightin' for freedom Cause you fucked the Middle East, and gave birth to a demon It's open season with the CIA, bugging my crib Trapped in a ghetto region like a Palestinian kid Where nobody gives a fuck whether you die or you live I'm tryin' to give the truth, and I know the price is my life But when I'm gone they'll sing a song about Immortal Technique Who beheaded the President, and the princes and sheiks You don't give a fuck about us, I can see through your facade Like a fallen angel standing in the presence of God Bitch niggaz scared of the truth, when it looks at you hard [Hook] It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change They wanna rearrange the whole point of view in the ghetto The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle A bandana full of glittering, generality Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality? Martial law is coming soon to the hood, to kill you While you hanging your flag out your project window [Talking] Yeah.. The fourth branch of the government AKA the media Seems to now have a retirement plan for ex-military officials As if their opinion was at all unbiased A machine shouldn't speak for men So shut the fuck up you mindless drone! And you know it's serious When these same media outfits are spending millions of dollars on a PR campaign To try to convince you they're fair and balanced When they're some of the most ignorant, and racist people Giving that type of mentality a safe haven We act like we share in the spoils of war that they do We die in wars, we don't get the contracts to make money off 'em afterwards! We don't get weapons contracts, nigga! We don't get cheap labor for our companies, nigga! We are cheap labor, nigga! Turn off the news and read, nigga! Read... read... read...
if you think blacks cant scream into microphones as well as white people, or rock out as well as white people, you need to expand your musical tastes... there are so many metal/hardcore bands out there with blacks, hispanics, asians in them... In fact, hispanics seem to be more into Metal than white people...

Mainstream rap in 2005 is a complete joke. It's become the lame equal of late 80s hair bands and the boy bands of the late 90s... A total joke. So commercialised and generic, its beyond pathetic. All the rap vids are the same now... it's like they all work from one dumbass template. I don't see rap surviving too much longer in it's current sad state. It's stuck in a rut so deep it makes the grand canyon look like a hiway ditch.
Music has been going bad lately. And I'm not talking about the lyrics, I'm sure there are still some intelligent thinkers out there, writing "smart" songs. But in this age, I'm missing a John Lennon. I'm missing a Pete Townshend, or a Bob Dylan. I miss a person who can combine music and words into one harmonic philosophy. Rap isn't the kind of music to carry a message like "Imagine" did, it sounds too agressive for that. That's what I think.
We can only hope that mainstream rap will crash and burn soon, along with a lot of mainstream 'R&B'. It's ok when a new one is released at least a week after the last one but EVERY single music channel plays it now, like there's not enough airtime for it all. I turn on MTV ... rap and R&B, I turn on MTV Dance ... rap and R&B, I turn on Q ... R&B, I even turn on Kerrang and bloody rap sometimes!
sorry, I dont. Ive heard enough of lil johns songs, they all sound the same!! give me a break with your "what"s and your "okay"s and your "yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah"s
hey, just because the guy has a different opinion than you doesnt give you a right to call him names. why dont you chill out with the foul language and the name calling if you disagree.
alright.... i apologize about the comment about african american rockers.... that probably wasnt the best way to go... i was a little stoned when i wrote.. so i mostly rambled on.... but still the matter of the fact is that all the kids i know in this damn town that are white think they can rap all of a sudden because eminem came out.... its fuckin pathetic because all of them that i've heard just cant do it and they insist that they are awesome.... when Ninja rap could rock their world... again i apologize for anyone that i may have offended....
When that dude said that I thought about Bad Brains because I went to a bunch of their shows back in the day. Now that was weird. One minute it's all hell breaking loose the next everybody was chilling out, smokin' up, the next, back to chaos. Not for everybody, but I thought it was fun. I was reading this one rappers blog and he was talking about how the mainstream stuff is like the cointelpro on rap and hip hop. Makes sense if you get away from it and listen to some of the real stuff.
heres a solution...dont listen to the radio..simple solution I dont and havent listened to the radio (unless its talkradio) for a very long time. Every music genre on the radio blows balls..everything..
it's not that its easy.. its that so many people think they can and they just cant.... its really annoying.. like this one kid i work with he thinks he can rap and he was freesyling... sounded like somethin you'd find in a nursery rhyme book.. plus he thinks hes a dj too... and i heard is mixing..... terrible... i worked with another kid that was a dj too.. he was actually good at it...
thank you madcrappie.... at least i was able to refstrain from getting down right childish when i posted my rant.....
listen to some grouch, eligh, sage francis. those are just a few, they are white and can rap as well as being extremely well linguists.
