You obviously don't understand Kanye West...and if you don't appreciate him then why are you on this thread? He's got a hiphop soul, no doubt. The Soulquarians aren't just any old Hurricane Chris Yeah his newer stuff isn't too appealing to actual hip-hop appreciators, but I'd rather Kanye be true to himself and produce things that he's feeling than "crankin that" Clown on Kanye's ego all you want, cause he's laughin at you. He went from nothing. Less than nothing. He had labels actually turning him down. Just Blaze got signed over him (which I think both are equally talented producers) and he got real down on that. Jay-Z completely ignored Kanye's rapping ability, until he finally got signed with Roc-A-Fella I don't think Kanye is as good as he thinks he is, but a part of who he is is his ego, and I enjoy his music. As for saying he should die? Well...I bet you'd be missing out on a lot of songs that were made great by him if he were to pass away or quit making beats. Common makes excessive use of Kanye's beats, Talib uses them, Snoop, Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco, it goes on and on.
College Dropout is a good album, imho. Late Registration was okay, compared to what is/was being released... Shitty music being released doesn't make mediocre music better, ya dig? Also, his beats on those two albums are top notch.. and I can't give 'em enough praise for his work on The Blueprint.
Hey, joker is actually right... Since KW has become famous, look at what he has done... he has a huge ego.. and look at his latest album! He has convinced himself he can sing!
It's a different style of music that he is exploring to express his feelings, and if that isn't music (it's also the extreme base of the definition of hip-hop) then I don't know what is. [His latest album is VERY humble by the way. 808 & Heartbreaks? I don't know how his ego can be seen when he's talking about his fiance leaving him and his mother dying unexpectedly within the same year] I don't like it too much just because I don't have the same feelings, but I think you should appreciate Kanye for the talented man he is. And his first two albums weren't anything less than spectacular, I don't know what you are talking about
I forgot some key players: DOOMTREE check their myspace, very underground, all local produced beats (I think). The MC's arent great, only POS gets credit in my eyes. As for DJ's/producers- they got some real hot tracks....
wu tang! immortal technique! jedi mind tricks! hieroglyphics! big l! biggie smalls! ugk! ludacris! nas! outkast! lil wayne before his mixtape reign of shit!
Dirty Boys Devin the Dude Bone Thugs and all their solo efforts, especially krayzie bone Ludacris Twista Lil wtye Three 6 Mafia When I started getting into hip hop, I really liked Kanye West. Now I know better
I have never liked rap until I heard Lil Wayne high. He's basically all I like, but I only like a few songs: 3 Peat A Milli Sky's The Limit I Feel Like Dying Best Rapper Alive La La I'm Me Phone Home Beat Without Bass Then I like Tell Everybody that you Know and Streetlights by Kanye.
Weed and hip hop came to me at the same time bascially, only then could I appreciate this genre which I previously loathed
no offense but that's kind of sad, though I will say that marijuana makes a hiphop beat so much more intricate than listening to it sober.
By no means is it the only genre I listen to, sober or otherwise. Weed let me appreciate rap, something I never understood before... which led me to realize the power of mj.
Dude these two songs were the worst ones on Tha Carter III... I actually burned a version of the cd without these two songs Edit: i just notcied you put the sky is the limit so your excused
