By voting, we're essentially saying that we accept giving someone or some group of persons authority over our lives, based on the powers that have been assumed by government since the time we first became a nation. In many, if not most instances, we are given the choice of selecting the lesser of two evils, like asking if you would prefer to be shot or hung to death. What if ballots had a "None of the above" choice, and a requirement that the winning candidate had to win by some amount greater than 50%? The more government becomes involved in the daily and personal lives of the people, the more difficult it becomes to fully support any candidates as you have to accept both their good agenda, if any, along with their bad agenda. I think it was Bill Mahr who said American voters are stupid, most likely referring to Conservatives and/or Republicans and Libertarians. On the other hand I think it was Lenin and/or Stalin who made use of the term "useful idiots" which would refer to supporters of the Lefts agenda. Today we have a large number of both. What we call the educated today are in reality a combination of educated and mis-educated, and as a result provide us with a government no better, or perhaps even worse than one which would result from the uneducated.
Transforming government is much easier to accomplish once a government has collapsed. If we assume that is Obama's intent, then a +10 might be considered too low.
@ Individual; I see what you're saying. It still seems as though if people at least cared, it would be a step in the right direction. I know a ton of people who just don't give a damn, are completely apathetic. I guess I think it's kind of a shame that our country is all about representing the people (or is supposed to be) and the people aren't even stepping up to the plate.
Although there are those who ignore politics entirely, there are many others who would like to be heard, if only their elected representatives would listen to them, and todays media is a disservice to the people it serves, as it ignores the questions we would like asked, and tends to be more interested in promoting the political agenda of the Left. You might as well throw in Hollywood in the mix in a subliminal way. The voter base should have much greater say in the creation of the platform of the party and the candidate that fits the platform closest in any primary should focus on representing his/her constituents fully if elected.
So you're saying the entire system is pretty much fucked up. I agree. I'm not going to lie, I don't know too much about politics, and I would like to, but I just don't know where to go to get an accurate view/sense of things. Politics in itself to me is ridiculous, but it's a huge part of our world today, so it's important to be aware of at least the very basis of what's happening...but everything is so damn biased that it's difficult to get accurate information.
This government was broken in the first place. It doesn't need fixing. It needs to be returned to the people. The first 3 words of the constitution "WE THE PEOPLE..." It is our government, not Obama's, not the democrats or the republicans. We the people also have to realize that it is not the government's responsibility to take care of us. All entitlement programs need to be abolished. If you don't work, you don't eat. Stop the unions from destroying every company they are in. There is only one union that counts and that is the United States of America.
people should have actually considered his presidential ability and not voted him in because of the colour of his skin, because that's how it seems to me.
His presidential ability is fine, Americans are just idiots. Like this mosque thing, Americans are unironically arguing against freedom of religion and private property rights while Obama speaks out against the storm of knee jerk hate.
No, Americans are stupid, and it was the "useful idiots" among them who elected Obama. I don't think McCain would have been much better, and in the end it may be that Obama with a majority of Liberals in both houses will awaken enough American voters to begin to demand giving government back to the people. You obviously don't fully understand Islam, it's much more than just a religion and includes an agenda just as does Liberalism->Socialism->Progressivism->Communism. The words like "hate" and "racism" are employed as blinders to the "useful idiots" keeping them from viewing the bigger picture. The shock will only occur once the blinders are removed. Until then, you are "useful".
Media, Educators, Entertainers, and politicians themselves. They all appear to be on board, it's just the people, the voters and taxpayers they see as a problem.
the corporations, fascists, military, and war mongers give him a 10. more military budgets, more wars, more bail outs, more manufactured enemies, more home land security, more surveilance, horay for obama.
@ Individual; But you always get just one side of the story, or what somebody 'thinks' should happen. Then again I guess that's the case with everybody about everything.
considering the only thing he's done other than run his mouth & raise taxes,& be the laughing stock of world leaders,I think this poll should include nbegative numbers
Spending needs to go down. Government spending that is. Next time the government sends what they call "non-essential" government workers home they should make it permanent.
