Most of the original hippies are still alive. They are in their 60's and 70's, but people are living longer now.
That is true, yet sadly, actually conversing with them proves to be almost impossible... which is a turnoff.
And a lot didn't. Don't make it sound like everybody sold out. During the intensity of the War on Some Drugs during Reagan's administration, a lot of hippies went underground and hid their secret hippiness. Like Steve Jobs.
Are you saying Steve Jobs wasn't about the money? So why did he market existing concepts as revolutionary and let them produced in cheap labour countries? If any person did sell out his original concepts for overpriced mass produced gadgets it was him.
Well, I haven't read the Steve Jobs biography yet (I intend to) but you are criticizing him for doing what anyone else in his position would have done. There is a duty to maximize profits for the shareholders, but he did it by providing products that were so high-quality and revolutionary that it basically improved millions of peoples lives. Every computer and electronics firm in the world makes their stuff in Asia. They have to in order to stay in business. Steve Jobs was a real hippie who smoked weed, had transformative acid trips, went to India. Once he got into business, he didn't talk about that anymore. I don't blame him. Apple would not have been successful if he reminded people about that.
lolololololol... the hippie who had kids in China assemble his products for shit wages? I wish more hippies did that, then I could respect hippies more.
I in no way hate hippies. How did you ever come to that conclusion? I do have a hard time respecting most hippies. Why am I here? I signed up to this forum when I was a young teenager with hippie ideals and I learned to enjoy the company.
It's true. Who cares that everybody else in similar positions does the same? That's not what makes a real life hippie for sure. Can't believe you excuse such an action with that argument. Nothing hippielike about such practices. Also: Just because they succesfully marketed like that doesn't make it so.
I am in a town that half the people are hippies I told a pseudo hippie the other day to pick up the cig butt he threw on the ground, I said "hey man, why are you littering my beach?" "you need to pick that up" and guess what..he did..I love embarrassing littering hippies, it makes me feel good inside
Cig butts are of cotton, if not near an ash tray or something similar I throw them on the ground as well.
yeah, well, I have done many cleanups here and picked up thousands upon thousands of cig butts on the beach..cotton or not, it is pretty disgusting, mostly when there is a trash can every 10 feet..
Is this not the definition of selling out? I thought you were being sarcastic when you mentioned his name lol
