Facial hair is a symbol of manhood. It's a defining feature which women cannot emulate, and is perhaps why so many of them consider it sexy.
As far as I know I am real and a man. I have a beard because I was one handed for awhile and shaving was awkward. All but one who have commented on it say its an improvement, still not sure how to take that. The one person who says she doesn't care for it is why I am going to keep it, just like a real man.
Ha. I have a beard, it's not huge or anything though. Whenever I shave people say I look cute even though it just makes me notice how much of a fat neck I have.
I can't grow a beard to save my life. it sucks, because apparently I need to be able to grow one to be a real man. I know this whole thread was made largely in jest, but all humor has its root in truth and I think most women prefer a man to be able to grow a beard. unfortunate for me, but that's the way it goes sometimes. it's a good thing I have so many other manly traits to make up for my lack of facial hair.
Many guys look better with a beard - but that doesn't mean that there aren't guys who look as good, or better, w/o one. I think that most women who prefer beards are not going to reject a clean-shaven guy who asks for a date, but women who hate beards may not go for a guy that wears one. Not too many matinee idols, of the past or present, have worn beards - and it hasn't hurt their popularity much with the ladies.
Last time I checked I was a man, and I am so I guess I am real but no beard, I have a moustache (not sure why, just had it a long time) does that count ? Peace
I just think that if u are able to grow a beard....then why not grow one? i feel naked without mine....even if its just stubble....but if i completely shave i jsut feel wierd and feel like i look wierd too.
It is unfortunate that I do sometimes come across with a kind of rapist blue print, but the fact is I only shave on average once a week because I can't be arsed doing it everyday, and because it makes me iresisstable to some women. It is not natural to shave everyday, it is not natural full stop, but if you have a thick manly beard like mine it just isn't practical. I hate looking like I have just shaved anyway.
It's not as though we were all off limits throughout the eighties and nineties, well I was until about mid may 1988 because i was busy studying for my O grades.
Hairy manliness is in? THANK GODS! I look like a chia pet on my arms and legs (have since I was 11) and I've, in my face shaving career, ruined 6 electric razors, a pair of barber style head trimmers, an amazingly horrible number of disposables, I'd hate to abuse a straight razor by bringing it near the wooliness, but when I DO shave, I have a 5 o'clock shadow within an hour (it's like the simpsons episode where homer shaves, and as soon as he turns away from the mirror, it all floofs right back out.) I don't mean subtle 5 o'clock, but the kind of stubble you get after a week out in the woods..I've charted the growth rate, and it's close to a cm a week...I would happily bid razor and trimmers 'bye bye' but I live in a very vanilla area that's still stuck in the 80's, and people really really do assume the worst about you unless you wear a suit. as a matter of fact, the only person I've seen within the last...(counts) 3 years in the whole city wearing an actual beard is the head of the art department at the local college. (not soul patches, or porn start mustaches, or little goatees that look like pencil marks, but an honest to goodness beard.) I actually prefer having a beard....I feel more 'myself' and less facially naked. Of course I also wear flannel (and not because of grunge trends...people are just now seeing facial peircings in the area, and I'm seeing like..80's punk stuff...it's funny, this little time machine of a town)
I don't think your choice of facial hair makes you a real man or not, i think its something to do with how you treat people. That being said I do prefer Having a beard
