i could have guessed you might like the mountain bike better. i got hit by a car on that 2nd bike...bent the fork. so i got it replaced with a shocked fork. with suspension in the front, it's quite a bit smoother now. the (blue) road/hybrid bike was just so smoooooth on the pavement. and a lot lighter. only children ride bikes? i thought more about the first one. but the decision was more of what bike shop to deal with. i liked this one man shop, and free tune ups for life, close to my apt. then i just explained what i was looking for and wen with his recommendation. when the 1st one got stolen, i told him i needed another bike, that was more of a mountain bike. becauese although i loved the 1st one, it got a lot of flat tires. and it didn't do that well off road (which i hardly ever do though) mine's in a bit rougher shape too (my bike that is) after being rode pretty much every day this winter that picture isn't even of your actual bike though right? just a stock photo. maybe i'll take a pic of my bike today, to show off how rugged it is haha
ok, here's when it was new: and here it is after some winter riding. you can see that the rims, the crank and the front fork have been changed:
did a big recording sesh today just bought that guitar two days ago and its fucking wonderful! natural finish godin 5th avenue acoustic archtop sexy ass jazz guitar. Right now it's got no pickups (since I just use my vintage les paul vantage to play electric, but I'm thinking of eventually putting some of these on it: http://www.lollarguitars.com/blog/tag/mccarty-pickup/ If anybody wants to listen to some of my smooth smooth jazz music, send me a PM and I'll share my soundcloud.
I liked your replacement because it looked a little more rugged. Though, looking at them again, they do look essentially the same, but one has thicker tyres (obviously) I got quite a few punctures, too, when I had a less rugged bike/wheels etc. I like your alterations. I should have used my D lock, but I didn't have a bike clip for it at the time. If only. Shudda Cudda Wudda. I wasn't talking about my bike Yeah, I didn't take any proper pictures of mine. Well, apart from not a very good one that I deleted.
I had a bike stolen too. It was locked up behind my apartment building overnight (I forgot it was out there, I usually bring it inside at night), and someone came by and cut the locks and stole my bike and my wife's. It sucked, especially when I walked outside in the morning and had to take the bus to work and get there late.
that sucks, egg. i hate thieves yeah, hindsight is 20/20 and i missed my opportunity for a dirty joke there...
In Toronto, bike theft is basically a sport for some people now. My friend had his bike locked with a U lock through each wheel and to the frame, and had the seat locked to the frame, so they stole his handlebars.
My housemate came home with a bike that was left unlocked just the other day. I can't say I condone it totally (it's stealing) but it is really so common practice in dutch cities it could be viewed as a sport here as well. You have to lock your bicycle with a chain lock to something else here, otherwise it might just be picked up and carried away at night Even chained to something else is not a 100% guarantee Yes, it's so normal here I can only laugh about it..
i guess thats one of the good things about living in my town. i left my bike chained to an old wooden fence near the bar in town for 3 days. all that you had to do was remove the top log of the fence to remove the lock from the fence...or get simple bolt cutters...i mean its not a very thick chain. but there it was when i went back to get it.
