At least for me, the internet has almost completely replaced television in my life...

Not that that is necessarily a GOOD thing...but maybe it is???

the first 30 years of my life went by before there was the internet!

i was 20 before the fist cpu chips. and in my teens before the first integrated circuits of any kind. (for that matter, when i was born, you couldn't even buy transisters, it was all vacume tubes and releys. what there was of electronics. which was mostly radio.)

i'm sooo glad it came along though, because television really was mostly crap and still is, if anything even more so.

the internet was better though in a lot of ways when it was still mostly engineering hobbiest, before the e-buissiness boom and bust and the average joe sixpack discouvered it.

even now, the same forces that made television have to be about how many post tosties they could sell are trying to take over and screw up the internet too. they haven't quite succeeded yet. no guarantee they won't. but a pretty good chance they might not entirely.

I love the internet. I was entering my early teen years right as the internet was introduced to Honduras. I was one of the first people in my town with a connection, and man... I remember the first time I ever chatted with anyone. It was amazing, just knowing that that person was thousands of miles away, and that it was so easy.

Right now, the internet is just another part of my existence. It never did get in the way of my life outside it. Hell, I can actually say that the internet has had an extremely positive influence on me. It let me participate in good discussion when the people around me in real life weren't the type, it helped me find people to relate to when I was feeling completely alienated, and it has helped me discover such a multitude of new ideas, things, sounds, etc.

I'm pretty sure that I act the same way in "real life" as in the internet. I might be a tad less random and a bit more structured on the internet.

Anyhow, the internet is nothing but greatness.

I didn't have a computer (a 386) until 1994, just around the time O J Simpson was charged with Creepin' while your Sleepin'.

Clinton & Gore were in office, and Gore didn't hesitate to take credit for creating the high speed internet super highway :H

I remember having one of those huge tower computers that weighed about 50 lbs. And thats when windows 95 just came out. Dial up really sucked but I never complained because thats all their was. Now I look back on it and think wow that computer was sooo slow. It had I think 500 mb. Aol version 1.0 haha. First time I went into a chat room I thought it was the greatest thing in the world being able to communicate with people I didnt know from all over the world. I dont think I would be where I am today without the internet. It was a great learning tool and still is today. It will only get better over time

i noticed. we "stole" cable for a little while. we were totally dissatisfied and turned it off. didn't seem worth the risk. we were perfectly fine with black and white tv, that required a screwdriver to turn the channels, rabbit ears and a pool in the back yard.
