remember 'the strap'

The strap, paddle, ruler was all a little before my time, but I remember being dragged out of class by the ear by one teacher. Apparently someone saw the bitch do that to someone else, and was fired and arrested if I remember right. If the strap was legal when I was in school, I'm sure I'd have been beat on a daily basis.

As far as bringing it back today, I'd be for it if I didn't think that method of punishment would be abused by some maniac teacher or administrator and I really don't know how today's kids would respond to being smacked(like come back with a gun), or how much good it would do, as far as correcting their behavior. So, I'd say no to bringing back that kind of punishment in today's schools, there's to much wrong with it.

Although, I understand why some people would want to bring it back....sometimes you can't help but want to smack the shit out of some of these kids today.

 

Ok, I just checked the actual number and it's 2559. From 9th through 12th, in 2 huge buildings on one campus. It is crazy, he had 650 kids graduate in his class. I went to a small rural public high school and graduated in 1992 with 52 other kids, and I thought then that it was a little overwhelming. Can't imagine going to one of these suburban monster schools. And it isn't weed they're buying there on fridays, it's more like coke, ecstasy, and heroin. Times have changed.

 

I'm not from the old school so i never got beat or anything, but this is my thought if i got hit for doing something that i thought didn't warrant it. I would try and steal said strap or paddle and sneak up and hit the teacher with it! Has anyone tried or done this before, because if so they would be my hero?

 

A school district near mine had over 4000 kids in it, it's HUGE like a huge college campus.. I graduated with about 425 other kids, but I remember hearing from friends who went to that school that during their graduation ceremony, they had like 3 stages running at the same time because of the massive amount of students that they had to move through.

 

I had a latin teacher who used to give the strap at the slightest provocation. His fave was he would right the correct version of the homework on the board and then give us time to take note, then he would come round and if you hadn't copied the correct version to the letter you got the strap. Often the whole fucking class would be lined up along the front of his desk. It was advisable to get near the end of the queue because he had pretty much run out of steam before he got there.
