Yeah, I remember in the 90's PAGERS were the most technologically advanced thing a person can use to reach someone else.
I remember the days before pagers, and we've only just recently (like within the last 10 years) gotten cell phone reception in this area. Never had a cell, or a pager, and I'm not sure I really want to be leashed like that. Knowing me, I'd sit and stare at the bloody thing waiting for it to ring. lol might get a simple 'no frills' one for emergencies, but I've got enough distractions what with the pc and the internet. If I had a phone with net access, I'd just be useless...lol
No, nor do I remember anything else before I was born. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_mobile_phones From 1924, mobile radio telephone. Heck, even my grandpa had one of these... ---------------- Now playing: Dvar - Greih
True. I have a cell phone, but it's rarely on and I don't give out the number. I keep it just in case.
i remember before my mom got her gas guzzleing SUV we drove an old car and there was a car phone, it was pretty cool
With gas prices so high now, people are trying to stretch the tank of their SUVs until the next paycheck and running out of gas. It's great to have a cell phone to call for help when you run out of gas and are stuck on the side of the road in your SUV. http://www.yourct.com/new/2008/01/28/aaa-reports-more-drivers-running-out-of-gas/ “People are riding around with less gas in their tanks,” State Police spokesman William Tate said. “When they don’t expect to sit idle on the highway behind a crash or wait in the snow for a plow, they run out of gas. It was an eye-opener to see how many were stranded.” .
hahahhaa I got rid of my cell phone and dont miss it since I can now bitch about drivers who talk on their phones and cut me off without feeling guilty, since I no longer commit this infraction.
I remember payphones very well, and I never had to pay my dime because I new how to trick it to get it think you paid. The payphones here were 10 cents a call local, no time limit, then they went up to 25 cents. Long distance was expensive but I never called long distance unless I was out of town and when I did I still tricked it not to pay anyway. This was when there was cell phones, but only in a few big US cities and none in Canada yet.
It was a much better time......... Now ya cant get a way from this fucking crap!!! Some guy comes to take me out 2 times a week and he is always on his stupid phone!! And I hear beeping all day in his car.. Im sick of if!!!!!! He is paid to be with me and he is talking on his blasted phone all day!! I DONT HAVE 1 OF THOSE AND I WILL NOT EVER HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!
After I got off the roof in my 70s and became the delivery boy for my roofing company--I resisted getting a cell phone , so I was driven nearly crazy trying to find addresses using a PAPER MAP!! When I finally got a cell phone --it was and is a miracle and easy as hell to find where I needed to go!! What a relief!
