Get your facts right. Up until just a few years ago, a majority of Americans lived in small towns and rural areas. Even now, more than 50% of adults grew up in a setting that was not urban.
50% of Americans grew up in small rural areas with zero minorities and there was nothing but peace, harmony and barn dances... Is that how it was? And guns and public hangings are just somethings I dreamed about one night! Remember the good old days when there was no media or forensic evidence to worry about? Remember when this simple townspeople believed your neighbor "moved away" and gave you everything? I know some small towns that never had any blacks or Indians, they killed them all! Good times... good times.
You obviously haven't read much of this thread, or followed my link on the previous page to a related post in a different thread: Do you have trouble understanding things that are not 100% good or bad? I'm not going to repeat for you all the reasons why I don't live in a small town anymore. I used to hear about things like that going on in states that were further south, but I only know of one NC town that openly stated, "We don't allow n*****s" in the late '60's or '70's. The Klan used to burn stuff there, but there was nothing in the news about any injuries. Not in my lifetime, anyway. That kind of drama was always rare in small towns, at least in the NC-SC-VA area. What you commonly found was manufactured, petty drama, like Clara from the Andy Griffith Show who was constantly trying to stir up some bullshit because she was bored out of her fucking mind with real life. :willy_nilly: People like her drive me crazy. I want to cuss them out, but you can't do that unless you are ready to move away. My family was still living in a small town when my sister started going through her slut phase. That didn't go too well, which is why I waited until I got to college.
It seems like people used to be more polite, and not quite so materialistic and out for themselves as they are nowadays... perhaps it is just "good old days" thinking
People are pissed off about the ways things have gone but feel they cant do anything,so they just sit quietly getting madder and madder.......
