http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Afghanistan/Afghanistan_CIA_Taliban.html In case anyone forgot their history.
It's essential that the reporters talk with the Taliban. Reporting should be about understanding, and understanding is what allows us to adapt. If we don't understand a Zorgon Alien we just might shoot it. But if we understand that it comes in peace then we'll play politics. Same deal..... lol
What the hell are you talking about? Nothing in that article is new... To be fair, I hadn't heard about Taleban fighters standing still and thinking the enemy can't seem them (dumb bastards.) ... that's about it. The Talebans PR machine pumps out all their crap...we don't need to go looking for a face to face with them...especially if it is in locations not known to our side.
We DO know all about them. There is NOTHING new gained from the article I posted. I've never read anything within these kind of articles that hasn't already been said by THEM in their OWN communiqués. There is diplomatic communication occurring between people that actually matter...not between some dumb reporters... It seems more of a vanity project for them (reporters) than anything else.
Well its probably not worse then whats on offer from the neo-classical economics crowd, many of which would probably like to dispense with history all together in the pursuit of clarity and analytic purity.
I didn't even read the article, I just answered the question. It's also important WHO you're talking to, if they're spitting you an agenda, or if they're telling the God-honest truth. If a reporter walks up to me and says "If they're going to give you a forced vaccination, will you resist?" I would obviously say no, but in reality I'd stab a motherfucka. And so it is in the world of reporting. I'm not saying that this is the case with the "Taleban", but I know as a general rule that constant open lines of communication is always better than none. Especially since every time you hear the word it's from reality spinning news anchors or the gvt. So is talking to the Taliban right? Absolutely, who willingly shuts off communication with the enemy? We train 00agents to open up the lines.
I am sure someone out there doesn't know all about them. Reporters should have the freedom to report anything from anyone.
They're professional journalists. They are specialists on getting info from people. Kinda like how cops and interrogators play those annoying mind games with you.
