Carson is a 7th day Adventist, not a Mormon. Which from what I understand is less moderate than the more moderate Mormons but more moderate than the polygamist Mormon sects.

I wonder if "pro-lifers" have stock in hanger manufacturers.

  3. The SDA church is fixated with the "End Times" and follow all the fatalistic teachings in the bible as well as the writings of the woman who founded their cult, Ellen White. They celebrate their sabbath on Saturday and have an intense hatred of Catholics and the Vatican. While they claim they are diverse, the church has many factions in the US that insist on being only white or only black. They operate private schools and supposedly welcome all faiths, but they really just want money. Anyone who is not an SDA is referred to as "worldly" which is not a compliment, it's their most holy of insults.

Can you imagine having a nut like this with their finger on the button? When I learned that Carson was an SDA it all fell into place. His arrogance is very obvious as is his soft spoken con game. If you really listen to him you can see how much contempt he has for basically everyone that's not an SDA.

Next Republican debate, Wednesday night, CNBC.

Bush has been clearly uncomfortable standing next to Trump. He has solved this problem by declining in the polls since last time. :D

  5. In a less wealthy family Jeb would be the brother they don't talk about much. He really needs to ditch the coke bottle glasses too, they make him look shifty and his eyes appear to be too close. Plenty of people in the nation remember what he did to Gore, at the behest of his family. This is the problem we face with political dynasties. Having families rule us was never supposed to happen in the US.

My bad, thanks for the correction.

Yesterday Carson said that he wasn't going to change, when talking about Trump and his stances on issues. In his next breath, he said that when he was 14 years old he tried to stab someone, and that he used to beat others with bats and rocks....but said he has changed.

How crazy are con voters to have someone like that leading in the GOP polls? What's Carson going to do when he doesn't get the nomination?

Do these candidates think they're running against each other, or against the CNBC moderators? What a nasty debate. Ted Cruz, especially.

I have to say, the moderators handled the candidates pretty well.
Some good moments for some of the candidates.

But overall, just further proved why the answer to their chances at president are a resounding NO!

I was giving the CNBC people the benefit of the doubt a lot more until they let that thoroughly discredited sleazebag Jim Cramer come out to ask two questions. He should have never been seen at a serious event. Even Brian Williams won't be seen with him. All their people came off looking somewhat like journalistic lightweights, but they aren't used to dealing with this sort of situation. Becky Quick doesn't do interviews on a typical day. They do know finance, and I was expecting more serious economic questions from them.

I don't know what the candidates were thinking, trying to treat CNBC like liberal mainstream media, when they've always been as far to the right as Fox. Some of the most extreme, ridiculous right wing editorial comments I've ever heard on TV have come from CNBC commentators. I guess the moderators did about the best they could under difficult circumstances.

John Kasich did a good job of summarizing the absurdity of the current GOP presidential field, but he didn't have a particularly good night either, with very few questions aimed in his direction.

I watched a 2-part TV episode of Star Trek: TNG that involved time travel to 19th Century San Francisco where aliens were killing ppl by stealing their life essence and feeding it to their kin in the 24th Century.

I find watching the Repugnicant candidtates for POTUS too surreal and absurd.

Steve Schmidt, who seems to have more insight into the GOP than anybody else I've found with a grain of common sense, declared the big winners of the night to be Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. He thinks Jeb Bush was the biggest loser. Bush is fading fast, in the polls and in donors, and needed a big night that he didn't get.

I still can't imagine any of these guys winning the nomination. The big problem with winning a clown competition is that you're still a clown.

The debate was a real con fest last night. It's so easy for them to con the stupid people of this country.

Their supporters really believe that the U.S. is going to spend billions of dollars deporting eleven million illegal aliens (not counting the ones from other planets). They also believe that Mexico is going to build a wall for us.

And how about destroying the IRS? Con supporters really bought that one last night.

They also bought the idea that any of the candidates were going to preserve Social Security and Medicare. BWAH HA HA HA HA! The Candidates even admitted that they stole $3 trillion from the SS fund and lied about it.

Another doozie last night was Raygun economics,...here's a clue....Raygun tripled the national debt! Shrub daddy doubled it again in only four years. And Shrub Jr. destroyed a balanced budget in only six months, and doubled the debt again...and he did it with a republican congress and senate.

That's the cons idea of being fiscally responsible. The candidates all denounced another raising of the debt limit that happen yesterday....it was a republican congress that did it.

They all say NO MORE SPENDING...except for $200 billion for getting rid of Mexicans, and how ever many trillion$ for war with Iran and Syria.....and China...and Russia.

Yeah those cons would really have the final solution...except half the country is still liberals.

Just look back at the last three con presidents...Raygun promised to balance the budget in his first four years...Shrub daddy promised no more new taxes....and Shrub Jr. promised to be a uniter and not a divider.

I hope the next con debate, they talk about how they're going to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

The only repug I would even consider as legitimate is Kasich, but he won't even get close.
If Cruz were to be president, I would seriously consider moving to Canada. He is a nut.

It's time for Huckabee, Jindal, Graham, Fiorina, Bush, Paul, Christie, and Pataki to bow out.

I think the contest is between Trump, Carson, and Rubio.

Hence, I vote for a Democrat, again.

Christie had that moment about "ISIS killing people and we're talking about fantasy football?!?"

Granted I read it as him trying to deflect the topic, because I bet he's in cahoots with the people who run sports gambling.
(I'd do some research, but I have a sleeping baby on my lap.)

  16. I didn't think it was going to be a good enough debate for a drinking game and I was largely right. But it was nice to see Bush and Rubio cat fighting like little bitches. As for Christie, I don't see how he has a chance or why he sticks around. But I did actually like his point on this. I don't give a flying shit about "Fantasy Football" which sounds more like the name of a porno that's sold on the $5 table out front. And I think that sort of gambling catches the losers who were going to lose anyway.

Like the lottery it's a kind of tax for not paying attention in math classes. But Christie is right, mutual gambling is a bullshit issue when we'd like to hear some real ideas about issues in the middle east and Africa. People are being kidnapped, tortured and even forced into cannibalism while these numbnuts want to discuss "fantasy" football?!?!?!?! Most of the dip wads I know who are into this are self-centered jerks who actually think they have a "system" for fantasy football.

I want to hear which of these assholes on the stage plans to take us back into war. That's not a fantasy.

My analysis of the Republican Debate last night.

    Government is the problem.
    Big government.

    And Obama.
    And Hillery.
Sanders is a communist who will raise YOUR taxes by 90%.

Government, BIG government has never, ever, ever, done anything right, never. Everything they do is wrong.
Regulation is wrong. Nothing should be regulated, ever. Except abortions, they should be outlawed.

The best government would be one that fits in a little back closet in the White House, beside the toilet paper.

Besides the questions were too hard.

(I missed the first part because I was watching Walt Disney's cartoon "The Three little Pigs" on TCM).

  18. My taxes have doubled in the last 5 years. I expect them to be around 50% next year if the trend holds true. I'm beyond trying to figure out which side is to blame because it's pointless. BOTH sides suck.

Hmmm, the Federal tax rate for 2015 is 39.6% for a single individual making over $413,200, married filing jointly it's 39.6% for those making over $464,850. That's in one year.

So either you're making a shit load of money or you have a ton of local taxes.

  20. I work as a 1099 contractor, I haven't had a real job in 20 years. I also pay state taxes in Georgia and New York (long story, but it keeps me out of jail). And when I work outside of the US, which I do often, I get bent over for other fucking from various government entities. Last year was leaner than most, but even with a gross of $120K I still paid out just under $50K in taxes. Which is enough to feed 8 or 9 families for a year. In 2006, doing the same sort of work my tax rate was 13%. So I made a huge mistake paying off both houses and our oldest is no longer a child. If it keeps going this way I'll expect an effective tax rate of 50% when our youngest child goes to college in early 2017.

What's interesting is that regardless of what I make over the last 6 or 7 years, my take home is never higher than $70K. So it's like I have not had a raise in a very long time. Even though I'm making a lot more money. I see this as a barrier that middle class Americans slam into when all the economic tricks built into the US system align like so many stars. I may see a dip this year since I have been unemployed since the middle of June and probably won't see any work before February.
