Yeh, I prefer to consider 'marketing' as "professional BS". It only gives a distorted description of the product and never a truthful drawback sch as "it'll only work for a week and parts costs are huge". We need comparative data, like vehicle mileage and fuel consumption for things as mundane as fridges or toasters. And that reminds me of a consumer magazine (website too) called "Which?" in case it may benefit anyone here. (Sorry to go off on a tangent).
I bought a "stone-age" ShopVac in 1984. (40 years ago). Total maintenance costs to date: a power switch for 95 cents at Radio Shack in 2004.
