I think it is sad when ANYONE gets murdered. I don't think John Lennon was more special than anyone else. I doubt he would be as high up on a pedestal alive as he is dead.
I was watching Monday Night Football. Howard Cosell made the announcement that John Lennon had been shot. The most memorable announcement that Cosell ever made. John & Yoko had adopted New York as their new home. Excessive income taxation drove Lennon to our shores from Britian. John could not understand being punished by his native country for his success. They lived in The Dakota Apartment on Central Park West. Across from The Dakota, in Central Park there is Strawberry Fields. Please stop by when visiting New York City. There are always hippie pilgrims, a guitar or two, some flowers and candles around a rosette plaque in the ground. Yoko still lives in The Dakota. John met his end on the sidewalk in front of the place.
John Lennon was a poet, hypocrite, trend setter, millionaire and in the end victim to deluded thought the same thing he encouraged and frowned upon.
and 67 years ago yesterday 2350 people were killed at pearl harbor. but i see no thread kissing their asses.
There is this old dumb joke that goes... "Lenin was giving a speak in the Red Square, and as he starts his speech the crowd muted him with shouts of "Lennon! Lennon!". Lenin was like... dammit man, I'm Lenin!... but the crowd kept on chanting "Lennon! Lennon!"... finally, after some frustration Lenin just said "...ehh... fuck it... yesterday... all my troubles........". It's not that funny.
Stalin was an alright guy :cheers2: I mean he did send 20 million bolsheviks to gulag labor camps to work and enjoy the temperate healing climate of a siberian winter Hotwater
R.I.P. John Lennon, the man who was not afraid to be who he was. R.I.P. John Lennon, the man who was not afraid to believe in himself.
