You should find a new Dr. then, the one you have apparently lacks even a basic knowledge of chemistry. Amphetamine is not a made up word, it's short for alpha methyl phenethylamine. That means a benzene ring with an ethyl (2 carbon) chain, with a methyl (1 carbon) group on the alpha (first) carbon of that ethyl chain. Or perhaps your Dr simply decided you were to stupid to understand this and told you it was an amphetamine to shut you up. And she was likely correct in this judgement.
