Ooo actually me Ellie Rose and Peace Phoenix went to a great role play of saxon battles in suffolk, I have a pic somewhere....
I'm glad you were quite diplomatic in not saying exactly who this person was. Thank god, or else everyone would know it was me, eek! But yeah, I like role playing, it's like acting, but without a script, just imagination. I don't see anything sad about it as long as you can have a laugh and don't take it too seriously. Yeah some of them are spotty geeks and get really annoying, but it's just as annoying when people get worked up about how sad they think it is. Bastards....
Hey... I used to play RPG stuff in uni... was a riot... used to take over someone's digs for a weekend... play an RPG adventure whilst getting progressibly mashed on a combination of whatever alcohol and drugs were to hand... fucking fantastic times... yes, we probably were geeks (like using an interenet forum isn't geeky, duh) but we had a lot of fun... Well, i had to have something to do on the weekends that Sally couldn't visit for incredibly athletic sex... Fly...
ok, you think regular role play games are lame, my dad plays Train role playing games. all the "coolness" of role playing games with the added class of being a trainspotter. his friends come round every friday to play i have to hide in my room from all the "exitement" it is very scary how seriousely they take it.
Thank fuck I knew Fly's wife was called Sally before I read that, or I'd have been quite scared too....
I like the idea of roleplay games online (such as MMORPGs like World of WarCraft), but I don't think I'd like LARP (Live Action Role Play)... The diffrence for me is the type of 'role playing'.. in a LARP, it's you that needs to take on another character, and act as that person for the duration of the event.. that does not appeal to me. In MMORPGs however, while you can take on a character, you don't have to, and so I don't... I might go by a diffrent name in game (such as Xeheus, or Naomi, or whatever), but i act like I would.. I talk like I would, and do things that I want to do. Another thing I like about MMORPGs is that you get to explore a whole new world.. sure, it might be virtual, but if you let yourself, you can truly sink in to the universe they give you... and it's this I enjoy... You can't do that in LARP...
