I've never met a Roma Gypsy. I think there are some in Georgia but I've never heard of any that live near me.

No, not all gypsies go out and thieve.
Some of them stay home, produce too many kids, and spend the proceeds of crime. As I said before. Funny how crime waves (pickpocketing, metal stealing etc) all appear the moment the gypsies arrive. Deny it if you want, but the article made it crystal clear that it was confirmed by the cops.

At a nearby off-licence, a young, welldressed man of about 30 erupts in anger.
He says all these ‘foreigners should be burned out of their f****** homes. All we hear about are their problems. For once, why don’t you write about the problems these people cause to us locals’.
He is referring to a wave of petty crime that has swept Belfast over the past two years — the period in which the Roma have arrived.
The crimes, confirmed by police, range from ‘mobbing’ elderly ladies at cashpoint machines, distracting them while they steal cash, to using razor blades to slice the straps of handbags and disappear with possessions before anyone knows.
Roma have also been linked with prostitution and people trafficking. But it is the petty crimes that are causing such fury.
Countless people I spoke to in The Village reported clothes being stolen from their washing lines — one man claimed to have seen a Roma wearing his distinctive jeans, which had disappeared while hanging out to dry, only for the thief to laugh in his face — and children’s bikes being taken from back yards.

Obviously, you saw a different version of the Daily Mail to me, Odon

If anyone defends THIS behaviour, they should be locked up with the gypsy vermin. Really, in fairness this is a bit ridiculous even by your standards. What next "Bigotry against Al Qaeda", "Prejudice against Cosa Nostra"..?

I've come to the conclusion that you just hate anything British. So any minority group, no matter how warped and backward, you think you have a natural alliance with.. (Probably some anti-Loyalist hatred too here, like Gerry Adams...)

Have you ever been to Oxford St, Prague, or near a site where they rob the road signs and anything metal they can take away? Ever watched a documentary about them?

Ross Kemp (the TV presenter) is a pretty liberal type. I suggest anyone googles his name and Kalderashi. These gypsies openly boast that thieving was a "gift given from God" to them. Anyone who defends that shit must be a complete loon.

We are supposedly talking about the 120-150 Roma that went home, right?
How many Roma children where born or conceived in the small community of Roma, we are talking about, over the course of two years?

    I didn't read about any 'metal-stealing'!

I did read the particular paragraph you mention.
Why do you think the Daily Mail said:
'He is referring to a wave of petty crime that has swept Belfast over the past two years — the period in which the Roma have arrived.'
Rather than use a word that is in the Oxford English Dictionary: 'Crimewave'
'He is referring to a crimewave that has swept Belfast over the past two years — the period in which the Roma have arrived.'
Why was this 'crimewave' (or if you wish - wave of crime) that swept Belfast not reported on?
Why do you think it was left to be put into an article after the Roma had gone?
Perhaps to inject some justification to the treatment they received?
The standard level of hyperbole the Daily Mail often employ, perhaps?
Or it wasn't really a 'crimewave' at all?

How many of the Roma were involved in this 'crimewave'?
If the police were aware of who was carrying out these crimes - why were they not arrested and sent packing?

Was there a disproportiantae amount of crime occuring by the vast majority of Roma we are refering to?
Or several crimes that can be attributed to some of them?

I'm not suggesting there was no crimes carried out by some of them.
But is it fair to charaterise these Roma as more as criminals rather than a group of people that have a few criminals attached to them?

I love Britain :) There is a warped and backward minority within them too.

No, I have not been to Oxford St, Prague, or near a site where they rob the road signs and anything metal they can take away.
I didn't realise the people we are talking about had been there or done that, either. Have they?
I have seen a few documentaries about the criminal elements, and I have even read Daily Mail articles about it, too.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...cost-airlines-target-cities-fly-home-day.html (a REAL crimewave)
Have you seen or read about the racism, prejudice and collective responsibility all Roma are supposed to accept?
Did you not read about some of the racism and violence meted out to these particular Roma in Belfast?
I suppose you think that is perfectly acceptable behaviour, right?
After all, they are all vermin, right?

I just don't bundle all people up as the same, though - that's just not fair.

Y'gotta admit though,Odon,it does seem like ANY thread I open that has contention in it of any kind, your name will be in there,counter-arguing whatever the original post was about. Content doesn't seem to matter,as long as you can argue.

Come ON mate-SURELY you can do humour, just once in a while?

    PLEASE?

I only looked at a few pages of your posts (and mine) and there is a difference in the type of threads we post in.
You seemed to have stuck with the 'humour' threads - which is fair enough.
I have not - which should also be fair enough.
Maybe you need to be serious more often!

I do not just post in any thread and post an opposite opinion, regardless of content.
It is a bit unfair to say I do

Do yo agree or disagree with the general opinions I have had in those threads?

I do have a joke once in while.
Just, there is nothing funny about the recent threads I have been in.

I promise to treat all the threads much more seriously in future.

That there may be a percentage, marginal from what I have researched of Roma gypsies that live outside of the law or what we would consider legal, the rest of that population sure get stuck in the pile of stereotypes.

Like all people there are some that are not what we would say is desirable in society but there are also those who live within the rules of society.

I have not really encountered many in Canada but I did when I travelled in Europe. I can not say that I had any issues with them.

Where I live they're known to roam the parking lot of the DMV and will hit you up to do body work or repairs on your car. That's the only interaction I've ever had with them.
