Did you just call me Trish?

And I know that nature is wonderful on it's own and it doesn't need any other crap to "enhance" it. Of course, I do not feel the need to destroy my lungs and whatever else just to get high.

I've camped in the rain, snow, passed out in a hammock. I LOVE camping. I love sitting in front of bomb fires, going on nature walks, appreciating nature.

I also like Hotels and having my own shower.

I've never camped in a camper. I've always had a tent.

This year we are taking my sons camping for their first time. I can't wait to see what this is going to be like. :D

This is me shitfaced right before I passed out for the evening.

Nature is fine on its own, but being shitfaced makes it even more special=conclusion I reached 5 seconds ago.

I like camping sort of. I used to camp a lot when I was a teenager, a lot of drunken fun..:D I wouldn't want to camp with small kids, though. Too much like work.

I'll never understand people who feel the need to drink or take drugs in order to "enhance" nature. It is a perfectly moronic idea to me, but whatever.

whenever i feel like i need a change of scenery me and me friends all throw down money for gas and book it to wherever we feel like going. we dont go to commercial campsites, we find places in the middle of nowhere. like one time me and my friend greg decided to try and find the tallest hill in Ione (a tiny little gold rush town, its beautiful but small, mostly hills) we ended up staying for two days, and i had such a great time. we turned out to be on someones property, but i dont care.
just this weekend me, brit, & kenny drove up to auburn for brit's cousins bridal shower. the thing lasted like an hour, but we found this creek on the way back that went on for miles, and we ended up staying by the creek for two nights, and it was awesome.
    i just love camping.

Its not necessary, but have you ever tried it, or you just want to knock it first? There is some truth to the cliche of psychedelic drugs letting you see things in a different way, its practically the only time I would take them anymore..when I was out in the woods and away from people.

I personally think nature gets boring after a few days just being sober the whole time.,,but of course I'm a drug addict and have been since before birth.

I hear your concern about negative camping experiences when you were young and with the scouts.

Lots of things can go wrong when rough camping in the woods. Things from injuries to undercooked foods to terrible hangovers, dehydration. Bug bites.

Not to be a bummer, but with a proper game-plan you can have a wonderful time rough camping in the deep woods. Treat it like a military expidetion.
You may want to commit to writing a set of lists and critical path.

There is no picnic table or water spout or bathroom or fire grill.

Often going with a big group can help to smoth out the rough edges, you can share equipment and share all the hard work to establish a confortable camp. Fetching fire-wood and water, building a fire. selecting a good, level site are tasks requiring help and diferent opinions and diferent aptitudes.

The joy is ultimate privacy, nature and great views.

The most risk free way to rough camp is to have your camp site pre-selected in a previous visit to the forest. Pick a spot which is high and dry, preferably with some sunlight and a breeze.

You will need to be proximate to sources of water and firewood. Collecting all the wood for a real hoe-down could take two people three hours. leave the axe at home and bring a small saw.

Try to get there real early to allow for packing in, establishing a fire and starting to cook. Cooking in darkness or with a light is not good, try to have your dinner cooked before the sun goes down.

After doing this work, you will be verrry hungry, eating together with your group, around your fire, in satisfaction is most excellent experience to be had.

Another piece of advice is to hold off on the BLOWOUT! untill your camp is set and the meal is cooked and eaten. These tasks will not be routine so you cant be too lit or you will have a fuck-up guaranteed. After your early meal there will be plenty of time to stoke the fire and to party out.

Please remember to drink plenty of water all the work will leave you thirsty.

Dont be afraid to plan on making two trips back to the car for all your stuff.

Best of luck, please come back and tell us how it was.

I can be one with nature without drugs and/or alcohol. I have camped many times sober. That picture of me shitfaced was one hell of a get together with some really good friends of ours. We were all having our fun.

Have you ever camped or been out in the woods stoned or drunk? Not that it's any of my business but when you said it's a moronic idea really it's your personal choice the way you enjoy nature. I respect that. :)

ps. I didn't know if you were referring to me or not when you posted.
