No smoking, no swearing, use proper manners (say please, thank you, excuse me) are the standard rules. But it gets even more complex with three kids here, so the list of rules definitely extends beyond the standard.
my dad yells at me pretty intensely when I forget to refill the ice cube trays. other than that we don't really have any. the no shoes rule would be awesome considering I'd probably have to vacuum a lot less, but I doubt anyone would abide by that one anyway.
We have hardwood floors so we don't have to worry about the no shoes on carpet thing. But if we had carpeting, that would definitely be a rule!
We have wooden floors as well but I'm still really anal about the no shoes rule. I get it from my mum, it was like a sacrilege to walk inside with shoes on when I was little.
the only rules i'd say we have is to flush the toilet, and to turn of the lights once you leave a room, and turn the electric shower off, and heating! general tidyness isnt really a rule but we are both tidy.
Oh, definitely turn lights out when you leave a room. You make a mess while fixing yourself a snack/drink, you clean it up.
clean your hair out of the drain. this rule mainly only applies to me, since half of my hair falls out every shower I take. people get really offended when I forget
We have lots of little rules but mostly no shoes in the house... put the toilet seat down, all bills go in the drawer.....
The only rules I have for visitors is to keep it down when Jack is asleep. For Aura, there are a ton of rules, so many that she can't even keep up with them! And because I make them up on the spot according to my mood, and they can change at any given moment without notice!
