Lighten up dappy, it's political satire, in a long tradition going back to Swift. Brainwashing? I suppose, if you unquestioningly accept the premise being put forward. But if you do that, pretty much anything becomes brainwashing. If you watch with an open and critical mind (and it's very obviously put forward as a joke, not a serious political treatise) I fail to see how you could regard this as anything of the sort.
Did you watch the The Trial of Tony Blair ?. I watched 1hour of it and it was complete bullshit. If you don't know the whole story then you may agree with what was being put forward. People actually VOTE differently because of this type of 'satire'. I do agree with your logic, it just does not work like that with the majority of the public, heck the majority of political partys commentators 'the media' etc etc . The e.g you gave was mild and i can see it as a joke. It is the lower rung of 'satire' and a political point. It is still influential on peoples minds. Nobody is unbiased, i can appreciate that. That type of stuff still does make me angry. Maybe I need to 'lighten up'
Well maybe only subconciously. Is not 'satire' a form of interpreting the news in a funny way. I think it is one of the things that effect our thinking. Not the only thing, i not that paranoid. So if i buy into 'right wing satire' and vote for the BNP, that would be OK.
This might help you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satire http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/satire You would be a chump. That's not an argument against "right wing satire" though, just a reflection upon you. It certainly wouldn't "anger" me if someone chose to use satire to put forward a different viewpoint than mine - that's their prerogative, and it's up to me to interpret it how I will.
I know my bad. True, wrong word to use, can't think of the right one though. Lets say I see in my minds eye people who can't be bothered to think, pick these videos as political reality and use the statements within as gospel. Me being superior I do realise, but the plebs do concern me.
I know what satire is. I was just suggesting that is what satire is... ok ok imho. I was only kidding.
Im completely with you lithium...just so you know...yore not alone! All this vengeance talk...punishment...anger...dear dear One day i hope everyone realises the value of each and every human life on the planet. And how hard is it? Killing is wrong. Those three words say it all, as wrongdoers too can be killed. Fin
What if Saddam isn't dead? What if government thought it would be too dodgy to kill this man in respect to conflict with warring countries, but thought it was unjustified to keep Saddam alive in the public eye? And now, Tony Blair is stepping down from his place as Prime Minister. What if the WHOLE thing is a cover up?
That is beside the point. Saddam was *officially* alive when your mother said that. Can anyone PROVE Saddam is actually dead?
Get over it?? Lol, as if I'm one of his dedicated followers or something. Don't swear at you? I didn't say 'fuck you dapablo', I said 'for fuck's sake', expressing my views on you changing the subject instead of answering a question, and answering questions with questions. It's a theory. One which is actually possible. You have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.
I agree with you PsyGrunge. I've been skeptical about it since it happened. I even saw the 'underground' footage from someone at the hangings mobile phone vid and it just doesn't look real and cuts away at the spots that would prove that it is real. Also to say 'for fuck sake' isn't swearing at someone either. That's being rather tempremental. I agree if you told him to fuck off or something that would be different entirely and uncalled for, but to just use a swear word ... well we all ARE adults aren't we? ... for the most part.
Precisely my point. I'm not SAYING the theory I typed above is gospel truth or that I believe it wholeheartedly, I'm just trying to put things into perspective. I wouldn't trust government as far as I could throw it.
