I wouldn't call it end of story. There is nothing wrong with discussing possible propaganda related to his capture. The more aware people are of the propaganda techniques that are and could be used on people of the nation, the better.

Some of the propaganda I have read about being used on us from this war and the afganistan war alone have been shocking.

The capture Of Saddam changed nothing anyway...we still went there for the wrong reasons and there were no WMD's end of story.

    Peace and Love,

Yeah, because we all know that nobody carries cameras anymore, considering just how big, cumbersome, expensive, and scarce cameras are these days.

And of course none of the troops over there have journalists with them, or are have cameras on their helmets.

The lies people tell themselves to justify their own beliefs amaze me sometimes.

How many of you people actually & truly believe this kind of bullshit?
Or do force yourself to believe it, because you want to, need to, believe it?

Late Edit: Hey, somebody even negative repped me for this post! Thanks! That only happens when I say something that really gets under somebodies skin. Usually because i'm right.

Soldiers attaching cameras to their helmets? Bringing journalists to the hole where they think a dictator his hiding (could very well be a bomb)? Or maybe one of the soldiers places his gun aside and films the hole thing, to send the buddies back home?

Hm... you've got more than a point. If I had a camera as tiny etc. as that, and I knew I just might capture Saddam today, I'd bring it with me on the mission too. Probably. But I don't know... it's all so weird. A fake capture video does tag along with my opinions about the means the American government would use to an end, especially if the end is proving the superiority of America over its enemies (or in general).

I do find it hard to believe that Saddam's all alone in some hole in the ground when he has secret bunkers, thousands of armed guards and lookalikes at his disposal. And that the first Saddam they find, while there's a dozen of duplicates around, is immediately the right one. Bit tacky, isn't it?

...And aren't many of you conveniently forgetting about Saddam's much hyped and reported on appearances in the courtroom??

    Remember this???

But I suppose you're going to tell me that this is just more Hollywood Special Effects, Make-up tricks, great use of Photoshop, and then getting all the lawyers, judges, and juries to collude with each other. Right?

There's a possibilty it was one of his many look-a-likes. Notice possibility is in bold, I know a lot a people on these forums take offence when somebody questions their theory.

  11. Maybe it was bullshit, maybe saddam helped them them re-stage it, if he had been caught fighting it would have been bad for morale, maybe he agreed to help morale for a nicer cell or some sort of perk, we haven't heard much more about him since his capture, their is such a small amount of info he could have gotten a shit-load of plastic surgery and been sent on his way with money and a boat

I doubt that very much..we have not heard much about him because his trial has not started..When that happens i think we will be sick of the sight of him.

I don't agrre with you..even though I recognize that in wartime propaganda is a powerful engine, in order to get decision accepted by public opinion..remember that Hitler's dictatorship and killings were for real

This all played out, IMHO, exactly how Bush wanted it to.

I do not believe that he wanted Saddam to keep his public image as one that would 'go down fighting', so when they did encounter that slight bit of resistance, he turned around and made it out to the public that he was scared and 'fearing for his life', hiding in a hole with a small pistol, giving himself up like he'd been dying to end the hiatus.

    Yeah, right.

Much like the Jessica Lynch thing, America has an image to withhold, so why not stretch the truth a little to make us look more 'badass' than we really are? Oh and please, if you would, Mr. Bush....

...identify these WMD that we have been so desperate to find in the first place....and send our people home to be with the families that they miss.

I am sure they do mis their families..but thats still a bit unfair.

The amount of 'lies' that have been told is unbalanced and i personaly think the balance is not heavy on any goverments side.

The media give us our fill of what we should all be thinking about..thats obvious. The last victim of a kidnapping and the the last suicide bomb barely made it into the news..
