This is what we want to stop happening. This is why I support Gun control. Massacre's like that should not happen.

Edit: The man committing these murders held a gun license. He could not have been stopped.
Remember the reason why the UK has these laws. It was directly because 5 and 6 year old had to die for it to happen. The UK public called for these laws. We called for them because we can't let another massacre happen like this.

 

Alright how about the fact gun crime went up after the ban came into effect? Massacres are like terrorism, you're just feeding into their fear, if one person out of 1 million goes insane and stabs 30 people, should we ban knives too?

Hey a gun or a dick isn't going to make you safe. Nothing can really make you safe. If you want to purchase protection you are an idiot. What we all should do is live our lifes as well as we can. We all die, no one can insure that you won't and it's ridiculous to pay anyone else for the promise that they can. Very stupid actually and a waste of funds. Think about the gross record profits insurance companies have been reporting. Put that into a national plan and none of us would have to worry about receiving health care.

We could all visit the doctor in our bathrobes and leave our wallets at home. How great would that be?

I agree. I feel safer knowing that most people don't have a gun on them. The common argument that criminalising guns means only criminals own them has one big flaw. Decriminalising gun crime still means the criminals have their guns, and there's no means to get those weapons off them because there's no crime to go under. I feel better knowing that a weapon can be taken from someone by the police, then allowed to hold it and carry it on their person.
Besides the idea of a gun toting hippie seems like a complete oxymoron to me.

 

Here in the states more own guns than openly smoke which is a legal activity. But according to the mdical fields and big pharma we should fear cigrarettes before we fear gun ownership. Go figure. But then globally weather change or warming is going to get us all isn't it?

Why do you support the right of the police taking away more of our freedom?

 

I don't see owning a gun as a freedom, but a suppressant to society. I feel free not having a gun.

 

If you don't want a gun, it's simple, don't own one. The right to protect ones self is the most natural born right we have

 

But that is not to say we were born with a gun in our hands. What would be the purpose of that? Would you suggest we give small children guns to take to school in case of any need of self-defense?

I think that students protesting a corrupt government are not violent, they were murdered. If they could defend themselves it would preserve liberty for the future

This was the DNC in 1968 where Americans came out to protest as we are entitled to and police beat, maimed and murdered so many people that its a cultural icon in America.

You cannot carry guns on campus in many states, if armed people show up, in kent state for example to commit murder you can protect yourself.

Of course there will be cultural differences and general disagreements to what happeend at these events and why having a weapon would do anything to prevent such things. However if I am a thug hired to end someone elses life and I storm into town to commit murder, if several thousand people start running at me with there own weapons I might be inclined to lose and concede to the will of the people

I could make the point that not a lot of rapists even use knives but maybe that is facetious.

 

And most people who ever break into homes or ect are not armed either.

Most of those links are for huge anti-government rallies gone out of hand and turned violent. In that situation do you really seriously think a small handgun will really help you against a military power? If you are wielding your little pistol and a tank rolls in for you, you're gonna shoot that little pistol and survive are you? Come on. Its just not going to happen. Those are incredibly weak arguments and I don't quite see what you are getting at to be frank.
And think about it for a moment, you have a protest. The police start getting violent. What's going to happen if one of the protesters happens to shoot an officer dead? Well, I can tell what will happen, it will get more and more violent on both sides, the Police reacting to the death of an officer, becoming more antsy and in return the protesters become more violent. Vicious circle.

As for the Rainbow...thing, you probably should have posted the appropriate page. At first glance all I saw was a hippie looking website wanting its weed legalised. But ok, a little read over. A hippie organising weed smoking festivals, who curses police calling them "Nazis and worse" because they wanted to police his festivals? And threatened physical violence against police? This story doesn't add up. And his child was taken from him through near-criminal neglect?? So, the FBI show up because he refused to go to jail for his offences. So, he was a persistent offender for drugs and was told by the FBI they were defensive and there to contain the situation, so he runs with his rifle. How smart of him. And no I don't feel sorry for him, he seems nothing but a low life anti-government criminal who had it coming for him. I'm sorry but I'm not sold on this whatsoever.

I apologise, but I am not altogether sold on your arguments here. Add to the fact these are in drastically different cutures and socio-economic planes. There's not much to link the events together.

 

I used to think that taking guns away from the common man was a good thing to reduce crime .. I was actually brainwashed by the British media into thinking this.

What I would say is that I can understand why people would like to keep their guns especially with a untrustworthy government controlling a massive military; it could get to a point in society where its Government V People.

In all situations .. people should win this battle; however if the government are fully armed against a unarmed society - then that is very bad news indeed for the future of society and mankind.

It would be worse for people to have nothing in defense against its government than for the government and the people to both be armed.

 

your right, a single person with a pistol would never stop an army I know that would not be a fight worth fighting, but if there ever is an us vs them thing going on concerning the government it wouldnt just be me, there would be millions across the entire continent with weapons a lot more powerful and it greater numbers than an individual could muster. The numbers are on side. However I am far from foolish. Many would die.
