I had no problem finding vegetables at the store. It was the meat, milk, and eggs that were out of stock

Looks like I'm going vegan this week

I tried this morning to go to Sam's Club (big box store). Nope. Line around the building fifteen minutes before opening. And that's for their plus members who paid extra for a special membership! The store doesn't open until ten for regular customers.

I noticed Friday there was more people than usual at the grocery store. Still plenty of food on the shelves though, then.

I just ordered grocery delivery from Vons grocery stores. It was something like $10 between the service fee and delivery fee. Plus my $40 in groceries. $51.63 I think. Yuck. lol

oh yea... and they won't be here until Wednesday. Looks like I'm going to lose some weight, or eat plenty of stuff from the deli counter where you don't have to wait in the line... probably that. :)

I’d really hate for a diarrhea virus to break out right about now. Nasal spray would be flying off the shelves.

Dateline Houston, TX - yesterday (3/14) afternoon grocery store moderately busy. No milk, minimal meat. no paper products. This morning more meat, milk on shelves but not usual stock level, some paper products on shelves store moderately busy.

On the news during the week some woman buying 120 rolls of toilet paper. Even if your household uses one roll per day taht's a four month supply!

I read a story about a guy stockpiling to price gouge. he can't sell anymore on ebay or amazon or whatever because it's illegal to do that. You can increase the price by 10%. That's it! :) Socialism here we come! :sunglasses: :D

    Thanks for the update.

Same thing here, no bread, no milk, no toilet paper, most of the canned goods were gone, no hand sanitizer (of course) and when I went to purchase a bottle of Aleve,
I noticed most of the pain killers and aspirin were gone. I got the last bottle of aleve.

Went out one last time yesterday before shutting and locking the big steel gates to my place. Sheltering in place to practice my social distancing.

Pharmacy here is out of corticosteroid inhalers, but had everything else on my list.

Grocery was not totally cleaned out, but supplies of canned soups and boxed long life milk were low. Veggies galore, but they don't last long. I stocked up on frozen veg and the basics... flour, yeast, oils, tequila, brandy, sugar, snacks (gotta have chips!!!) and am now stocked up well.

Gassed up the RAV and had the fluids etc. checked in case I need to flee overland. Flying anywhere now is completely out of the equation for me.

Government finally decided to close all schools in the country... next Friday. Why wait?

I don't understand people panic buying the bread. Unless you've got a freezer to store it in it's going to ruin pretty fast.

i assume it originated from the idea that they might be stuck locked in the house for several weeks and need something to do with the time.

That does not sound like such a bad idea, but people rushed out buying it after the warning that hand gel does not have enough alcohol to cure viruses.
The moment the shelves start to get low, panic sets in.

I have just found out that along with public buildings and cinemas, bars have now been closed in Ireland, with just a few small pubs opening for a few hours
Perhaps the most surprising thing is that the churches are no longer open for mass. It is the first time that the catholic churches have closed in Ireland in the history of the republic. People who think that they will be struck down if they are late for mass, really will think the the world is coming to an end.

  20. They're trying for a controlled implosion that doesn't wreck the economy or overwhelm the healthcare system. Quarantine on this scale is probably a 1-shot deal. If it doesn't take the first time, it's unlikely a second time will happen as it would mean months of global isolation. Which I think we all know is ultimately impossible.

Consider how HIV might have gone if quarantine was taken seriously in the beginning. Instead, the government, media and much of the public was indifferent toward it. After all, it was a "gay disease". Or so it seemed. For a short while that seemed to be why it stayed concentrated in particular places. But of course it eventually spread. At that point when a quarantine was suggested it was immediately attacked as the government setting up concentration camps for gays.

The worst part of this is that the government is still expected to pull us through this. At a time when the government is completely divided and everything down to the white house drapes is a "political" issue.
