Lol, spending spree. Yeah that would be an appropriate way to put it.

Why the hell do you Americans assume that you're paying for everything?

You know that there are other countries in the world, and other ways of paying for science besides taxpayer money, right?

And yet you don't see the importance of science above all else?

    EDIT: Spelling mistakes.

Well if we got bachman, perry, palin and a herd of fundy preachers I see no problem with going all the way with giant retarded lizards as long as no rich people are taxed for the creation of this.

Man if hittin a deer in the road is a problem, having T Rex stuck in the grill of your SUV could really suck

The same technology that he develops (or has developed for him) in order to do this, is the same technology they will use in the future to turn off things like hereditary diseases and cancer.

As for anyone 'buying' a dinosaur, funny thing, if you read through the article (as in past the title), you quickly discover that he isn't doing this. He is interested in doing it and thinks it is possible. He has personally funded research into aspects of it and is working on some aspects of it himself.

In the future, IF he gets the funding to actually work on this, it could lead to amazing things.

This is in relation to whether or not research into science that seems pointless actually matter.

Now, most of us weren't around in the 1920's, but we should all be thankful that there were people working on things that seemed to have no practical matter in the 'real world'...

Such as the study of quantum mechanics... Now seriously... isn't there something better they could have been working on? This was the time of the rise of the nazi's and just before the great depression kicked in... What good could ever come from wasting time and money on such a thing at such a time in the world...

    Well...

See anything in there that you use in your daily life people?

That is a quote from another science article, this one about dark energy and the expansion of the universe... likely another area that some people will have issues with.

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/09/opinion/urry-dark-energy/index.html?&hpt=hp_c2

Never look down on science and learning new things... Although some discoveries may get mis-used by people to cause harm, overall we benefit from it.
