More ad hominem. Should we actually have an audience, this behavior does not help your presentation. Concise statements of your position, that are easily relatable to other people’s experiences, will serve you and your perspective better. Having a message that people can understand and relate to is not always evil demagoguery. Either way, it is an effective way to convey a message.

There is probably our most significant point of disagreement. I do not believe either of us will be swayed by the others’ arguments. I engage in this conversation to express a perspective and to listen to different perspectives. Reciprocal understanding seems like a more achievable goal in such a forum.

Well, duh. It goes back to Protagoras and was used extensively by Socrates.

You think he used it to harass people?
I guess you would be among those who found him guilty of corruption?

You don't like it when we ask questions?
You don't like to have your statements questioned at al as you may have to explain some weakness in your argument?
    Really?
If you thought your argument was so bullet proof why would you refuse to answer questions about it?

I assume you would rather have us just read your posts and accept them as they are.

Socrates was found guilty of corrupting the youth and impiety. His real crime was supporting the wrong political faction but due to circumstances, he could not be tried for that. Of course he used to harass people. He was quite proud of the fact and called himself a gadfly. He was also no fan of democracy. I don’t think he would serve you well as a poster child for your point of view.

Apologies. Wrong person. I was responding with a little tongue in cheek to someone who commented about not being able to swallow what I was expressing.

Of course Socrates was talking about an absolute democracy and I agree with him in that respect.
We, of course live in a representative Democracy, more properly a Republic.
    Sound like the MAGA crowd?

Regardless, why are you even responding to my post?
You have not offered anything of substance regarding what I wrote, nor answered any questions, all you do is give us your opinions which have little value as you can't defend any of them.

As I have stated previously, I do not expect to change minds. Just to give expression and listen to others’. Arguments and counter arguments with citations are ineffective and very time consuming. If my opinions don’t ring true with you or stimulate you to pursue your own inquiry then so be it; they cost me only the brief time to write it and you the little bits to read them.

    Exactly.

    Levels of Awareness in politics

    Level 1

They believe what their preferred news say and do not sample other sources. Not aware of counter arguments. Not aware their news is mostly narrative.

    Level 2

Sample news from multiple sources but believe only their own sources are accurate. Think the other side is all narrative, but familiar with all sides of issues.

    Level 3

Aware that ALL news is fake, at least in the sense of missing context and spin. Also known as Gell-Mann Amnesia. But still believe the experts in various fields are usually correct.

    Level 4

Understand that NONE of our experts are reliable. Some might be right, not none can be trusted without verification. The distortion of money makes no expert credible.

    Level 5

They see the gears of the machine, Mike Benz style. The Republic no longer looks like whatever the Founders intended. The control of powerful billionaires and intelligence professionals is now obvious.

    Level 6

You are dead because you know too much. Also known as Epstein Level.

    ---
(Not my work but providing the source will only result in it being disparaged, because... it's erroneous? Or that's the flinch reaction?)

Agreed. But of those who do take satire too seriously, are they not just the perpetually offended anyway? It seems to me comedy used to make one laugh so hard it hurt when it used to actually be offensive or outrageous. Doug Stanhope or Dice Clay spring to mind.

BTW, I kinda liked the mutual admiration society bit. If one interaction constitutes a mutual admiration society in your eyes, what’s a gal got to do to bed you; make eye contact?.
