as a side note my state has one of the highest traffic fatality rates in the nation. We have shitty roads, so if the increased revenue was used to improve the roads and make them safer I would be all for it. Its probably used to buy new dodge chargers for all the po po though.

In my home state, seatbelt tickets start as low as $90. If you drive a car that's pre dates 1960 you don't have to wear one. But I installed seat belts in my 53 jeep anyway.

I've never been done for not wearing a seatbelt. I actually feel really uncomfortable without one. I can feel it the moment I start to drive that something is not right.

I always wear a seatbelt, made a habit of it years ago. I won't budge and inch unless my passengers are buckled up too, I don't care if we are only going a few blocks. I still think it's and intrusion on personal privacy to require it by law. Helmets too, though I don't ride motorcycles anymore, too fucking dangerous, lol

Short of mandating manufacturers to equipped all production vehicles with full roll cages and four point harness's, it's nobody's business my personal safety precautions.

It's not supposed to be a primary offense, but they are trying hard in my state to change that. Fuckin' Fascists!

This thread got unreasonably harsh on rat, to which rat replied with an over-the-top insult/accusation

Can't we all just get along?

Isn't it strange that wearing a seatbelt and helmet are laws....but it is ok to send people to war?
Yeah, they really care about our safety.....right.......and all of the additive cancer causing food shit that is sold to millions.....ok, tell me another...it is just a way for them to make more money and NY is notorious for the cops waiting in hiding to snab people for no seatbelts.....
I heard one person lived an auto accident for not wearing one,.,..as they were thrown out of the car...and would have died had they been belted inside.....
I think it should be up to each person what they want to do......although, wearing belts have saved lives also.

I can promise you wearing them has saved countless more live than not wearing one.

Remember, it only has to happen once to fuck your life up forever, so is it really worth the risk to simply be defiant because it's the law???

I don't recall saying I was defiant about this issue.

I am defiant about the reason.....the caring reason.....say the truth....you have my respect....whatever it is......the worst trust is better than the smallest lie...is my issue.

not overly harsh on rat at all, as evidenced by the number of folks who appear to agree with my "harshness".
he is always cryin' and complainin' about crap and it's ALWAYS part of some fucking plot.

He more often than not sounds like a spoiled little brat quite frankly

not you specifically, but that is often the mentality people adopt in their justification of not doing so, such as our good friend Mr. Rat

    "Down with the government tyranny!!!
I'll show those Sons of Bitch's!!!
I'm not gonna wear my seat belt!!!"

Well, my mom did not wear one once really upsate where there is not much crime at all...and got snagged.....nor is there much here....so the cops have way too much time on their hands and need to make money somehow.
It is the law however.....and the law is the law.....so i would not cry if i ever got caught without one.

Having people like your post doesn't make it either harsh or not harsh. It just means that they liked it for whatever reason. Maybe more people would have given it a thumbs down if we still had that option. In any case what people like or don't like is only a sign of a post's popularity, nothing else.
Maybe, but complaining about random shit is part of the shit-shooting that this site is about
    Well...ok, I'll grant you that. :)

I just get sick of the handful of people here who always feel that they have to troll my shit and make a fucking snide remark. Fuck off already! I never said I was above the law or that I shouldn't have been ticketed. I clearly said I was at fault. I never alleged a conspiracy. I simply despise cops and the system they uphold. If you don't like me saying that, I don't give a fuck. The grovelling mentality some people have toward the police and other authority figures is precisely why our rights are being trampled on. Whether or not I wear a seat belt in my own fucking car should be my own choice. Fuck all these tyrannical laws that present themselves as being for people's well-being. Talk about a fucking nanny state. This is what my gripe is about -- not so much the fact that I got a ticket.

So yeah, don't fucking comment on my threads if I annoy you so much. You don't know fuck about me other than what's presented to you on here.

Also, I normally try and make an effort to wear my seat belt, but sometimes I forget when I get in the car but will usually notice before too long. Unfortunately this time the trooper noticed before I did.

I don't see the point of seatbelts in places where the speed limit is 25 or less, and the car has airbags. Definitely a lot safer than a motorcycle at any speed.

I don't get the appeal of motorcycles. Most older riders walk with a limp, and will tell you, if asked, about all the steel pins they have in their bodies, and how many days they once spent in a coma. It's almost like they're proud of it. I wouldn't ride one anywhere but a remote area.

The fact that I said you should just wear the damn seatbelt and the reason I have always worn one since the mid 60's has nothing to do with laws, cops, or fines. It's merely logical to do so when operating an automobile.... apparently that goes over your head and it must be due to the fact that I just love gooberment control.
