insome cases. and in others, it's the opposite. it's all relative.

 

I'm in my senior year in college, and black or white, let me tell you, college girls are the worst. They show up in gaggles and sing and scream and do that horrible high-pitched laugh/scream hybrid thing that makes you want to tear your own face off and throw it at them. And I go to a private school, so these bitches think they're even more entitled to do whatever the fuck they want because Daddy's put all four years on his credit card in advance. Kind of pisses me off when I've sought out a nice quiet corner to call my man, who lives in another state, to try and talk to him on my lunch break and a torrent of screaming bitches decides to camp right next to me and be as obnoxious as they possibly can...

I guess I missed where you stated an element of choice, I haven't really been paying to where this thread went. But of what I read of your opinion it was hardly presented as a "scholarly theory." Short, and seemingly biased to one perception.

The logic you just used makes a lot of sense, and is probably mostly true, but I think it more applies to the thug attitude in inner city situations than being excessively loud when it's not a good time to be at a College or any place of Education and Study. Which was the motivation behind this thread.
There has been a good population of African americans at all the schools I've attended K - College, and there has always been those that were actually even quieter than the usual white kid, and then those that acted out.

No kidding I'm not trying to back up an argument. There isn't going to be a major scholarly support of a statement that wasn't motivated by scholarly theories of sociology...where this thread woundup. It was about the few groups of black kids at my school who were being obnoxious in the wrong place, where there obviously was a choice. I made this thread a lot just to see how much shit I get...I didn't get the shit I expected but it certainly was taken a silly way. So from what I give a shit about, this is still annoying hippy cliches trying to argue something that my post didn't even address in the first place.

The moment of loud black kids in the library has past. If I can't stand black people then that certainly makes me racist....

There really isn't much that I truly can't stand..... the one major thing being my self conscious thing when people are look at me.

But as far as thing I love and like...yeah..it's hard to focus on what's not there. Music and drugs.... I do focus a lot on those.

 

I went to a high school that was probably 92% white, and a college that was probably around 80% white, white kids are just as obnoxious and loud as anyone else.

 

If people don't give you shit, don't take that as a blank cheque to keep espousing your theories. It more likely means that people think you're so dumb that you aren't worth their time.

Being racist, and being in denial about it aren't things to be proud of. You shouldn't be screaming it from the rooftops (or to the internetz).

 

You think the thing to get is that I'm racist. I was annoyed by a group of loud black kids in a library computer room....sheesh.

generalizations, stereotypes, heuristics, whatever...it's human nature. however,the op qualified his statement by first acknowledging that he himself knows it is probably inappropriate to make such a generalization. this is evidence of the fact that humans not only use heuristics, but they know that they are not always fool proof for judging others.
