Shake your head at me, but some black kids...

Not all... Some of the nicest people I've met happened to be black. I think your experience has been severely skewed... I suspect there are volumes of socioeconomic factors which help bring out loud, obnoxious behavior in anyone- it just so happens that in a system that practices covert racism certain groups are disproportionately exposed to these influences and their reaction to their situation creates a false perception that the behavior is genetically/racially predetermined.

 

But saying black people were acting in a stereotypical manner isn't prejudice.

Not until you say something like this:

There's nothing wrong with saying, 'In my experience, most blacks really do like watermelon and fried chicken.'
That's quite different from if you were serving a black person and said, 'Oh sorry, we don't have any fried chicken or watermelon'

One is a generalized observation the other is prejudicial.

I didn't read the whole thread; but I really can't see how the original post was racist or prejudice.

 

And suicide's a bitch, my friends and I had a good friend of old hang himself from a bridge at the park we always went to, and pretty much called home, about two weeks ago. It always seems to be the ones that do have a way out, because they're such great people and then they get stuck and don't see a future. I think in most cases it is not a respectable choice, completely disappointing, an act of selfishness. Sometimes I feel more lost than anyone and I hear of all these suicides and then it happens close to home. I sort of get jealous, because I know that's completely not an option for me. This friend was off the wall, he was wired insanely from the beginning, one crazy mofo with not always the shiniest things to say, but the most considerate of any of us by far, he was truly exceptional. Maybe he just always made sure to make a connection with me whenever I was around because he took to my blase doubtful vibe. I actually think he was mostly disappointed with everyone around him, everyone in town was losing direction to drugs.

 

Yeah I guess I was pretty modest with my original post, I shoulda had more of a bang. But my most ridiculous statement, definitely not literal.

 

I'm going with Dave Chappelle on this one, anyone who doesn't like fried chicken and watermelon has a problem.

 

Well, I guess I didn't mean it that way, because they don't really effect me till they try and tell me not to care about shit, and even then I have the option to take it for what it is and walk away. If they want to be that way, then that's up to them, but I feel it's kind of a waste of time (theirs). Suffering can open doors to things you would otherwise never experience if you were content with the way things were all the time.
I suppose it's condescending if I say I pity them, but I would never want to be them. The prospect is utterly horrific to me. A total denial of who I am and what I value.

 

I get that, but I wasn't serious with this statement, but I guess my original point was short sighted of that anyways. Anyways I actually had some synchronicity experiences with black dudes yesterday evening because of this. No joke, in the library I left my computer with my sweatshirt, bag and drink there to go look at a book for a few minutes, I get back and there's a black kid sitting there on the computer, that had my account up. I said "Could you not see someone was sitting here..." Which was rude... but he was just like "Oh you were sitting here, let me sign out of facebook" then moved. And then later on he asks me to come to his computer to tell him what the word "dynamic duo" on facebook meant. Random!

Two days ago I walked out on the group of a few black kids from my floor smoking a blunt just outside...and they're like "Awhhhh" And then I see them smoking a blunt today.

Anddd...yesterday evening I was coming back to my room high as balls, and my path converged exactly in time with this quiet black dude with glasses and dreads from my floor, that I always run into and see around. This time only two paths converging out of nowhere, high as balls, and he was with the black stoners from my floor trailing behind laughing their assers off at something probably not me they were just high.

In that light, I didn't even consider it like that but I've definitely felt exactly like that, actually very recently on these forums. Haha. It's good to let things go though. I actually greatly respect my uncle's very buddhist take... When ego issues start surrounding him and his current life, he looks for a way out, and I imagine just because of his ridiculous focus, he finds a way out, ascending to an even better situation with his partner ( he is gay) and imagine this... My grandparents move along with them. The two have been moving around the Southern Tier Ny and all of Penn my whole life, and for the past few years with my grandparents. Pretty much every housing they move to just gets nicer and they remake a lot of the interior of the houses. I don't know how he does it, but he sees every loss of his contentment as an opportunity to move on and reach even higher levels of existence. Almost like reincarnations.

 

And the self proclaimed Bodhisattvas aren't anything except pretentious and egotistical. I had to lay off that rude trip myself, and definitely did when I found my suffering again. Just when I felt like it the peace happened it was such a strong shift of my mind I felt I understood everyone's last little flaw of mind. I could never fully empathize with the complexity of one's own suffering.

 

So, black people like Facebook, weed, and dorms/apartment buildings. Cool story.

 

Cool story. Some people are wanderers. Myself, I want to find a place to settle, but I've always believed that no matter how bad things get, who gives a shit? You can always pull up the stakes and get the hell out, just like your uncle has done. I don't get people who get mired and kill themselves. They can't possibly be in the right state of mind.
