It's good. Dub is something I tend to get bored of over time.

This has been more my stuff these days with regard to Jamaican music. It's not dub, but nyahbingi; a form and style of music performed at Rastafarian ceremonies. The style is composed of its rhythms produced by hand-drumming and vocal chanting.

I know it and love it too! As you know already I guess I have a big fondness of rasta roots reggae and dub and this definitely includes analog nyabingi recordings with bongo drums (I freaking love bongo and tabla drums in dub! .. and rasta chanting). This Dawada guy is the same as Ras Michael and the sons of Negus.

Now I feel really old. I never heard of Apollo 440 - I had to look them up and they've been around since 1990. That sounds pretty cool.

Of course it sounds cool to me because 'Ain't talkin bout love' was performed by my favorite "high school years" band.

 

I know them only because of their fame in the 90's Have not followed their later stuff.

Generic rhythm with nice rasta lyrics means excellent spirtual (or smoking ) tune!

I am rediscovering the New BoC album that was released almost a year ago, which I did not much care for at the time. I still feel it pales compared to their other works, but the post-apocalyptic, desolate atmosphere is undeniable, and I feel that this track is the strongest and most haunting track on the album. Really beautiful synths on this track. The way it builds is pretty awesome, but that first minute or two give me the chills and paint a landscape in my mind.
