    Exactly what I hope. :)

He came up with this plan shortly after my last comment about his writing. This is the boy who has written two novels and a few short stories. I kinda gushed about his writing. I gave him a lot of specific, positive feedback about aspects of his writing that somewhat amazed me. Then I added a tiny caveat - which I kinda hated to do, but at the same time, I think it was needed. I told him I thought his writing would be even more amazing after he got a little more life experience.

His life has been pretty sheltered. He needs more depth - the kind of depth that you only get by going through some hard shit. I know from my stepson's Americorps experience that what my son will get will be long hours of intensive hard work - along with the close personal bonds with teammates that this kind of experience forges. I think that will be just the sort of depth he needs, and I think on some level he realizes this too.

He is just an amazing guy. He's 40 years younger than me, yet a way better writer than I am. And at the risk of sounding conceited, I will tell you that that is saying something. ;)

I showed him the first chapter of my book a year or so ago. He said, with noticeable enthusiasm, "There's some powerful stuff in there." Those are among my most cherished words of praise for my writing. If I can win my son's adulation, I can conquer the fucking world, cuz I consider him my most important literary critic. ;)

Mm-hm. :) It's a bit weird in a way. He acts so stoic and un-needy. Yet I'm sure those few, sparing words from me put a major bee in his bonnet, whether he admits it or not. I think he needs to learn a lot more about himself.

    As if I didn't... :D

When he was ready to leave he held out his arms to hug me, I never expected that. I thought I would be the one who needed to extend myself. He keeps surprising me.

I appreciate this talk with you, Aerianne. Thank you.

He sounds alot like his old man.

I love hearing about everyone's family. It helps me to see another part of my friends. It adds another layer on paint on the canvas; and I do have a wall full of canvases. Each one of you here has a portrait hanging in my gallery.

Oh, God, Yes! It's seems more and more like I'm going to put the clothes baskets in the closet and sleep on the same sheets one more time. I think I'm making a turn around on this cold/flu but I've been pushing myself for a several hours and I've got a headache now.

I'm going to make some tea...

:D So there you are, innit?

    As in mine also.

It's late and you should sleep, dear. Rest is the most important thing for someone in your situation.

I can tell you from my personal mountain man slobovich experiences that modern western civilization's notions of hygiene go way overboard in most cases. I hardly ever get sick. Well, it's partly my genetic endowment, of course. But still...the slightly soiled bedding will not be a major factor in your continued illness. I can just about guarantee that. And if you're concerned about your immune system, I could also tell you that stressing yourself out is a deterent to immune function. Best save your stress for something that truly matters.

    imho, of course. :grouphug:

    Good point. :) You're right.

    LMAO

I've decided that the convention of dissolving a sugar cube in absinthe is way too much sweetness. I'm drinking two ounces of Lucid absinthe 124 proof diluted with two ounces of pure water sans sugar cube, and I'm finding it's just exactly the right sweetness by itself.

I'm watching Hannibal Rising for the third time - a bit of a thrill for the demon within:

I think Z and A need to get a room, since their names are the start and end of the alphabet...
