do lamb run wild there?..if not then i suggest you just buy one or pay a farmer for it before killing its not uncommon here to butcher a deer or moose i dont hunt..but its because im too cheap to get the licences and permits..not because i wouldnt do it
I don't ever go hunting here or people around me... No wheres to go hunting and a lot of money for hunting licsenses and stuff.. so we usually buy packaged meat.. Theres a butcher place nearby we get meat from there a lot though and its not packaged meat from the store.. but i can't go without eating meat as well... Too many things i like and its just something been apart of my life. When i was little i lived on a ranch.. we used to hunt off of it. Had lots of good, fresh meat.. My step dad and brothers did most of the hunting though. A lot of deer, hog, rabbit, dove and squirrel. I miss it lots.. Nothing better than some fresh venison.
I hunt deer. Haven't for a few years but hope to this year. It is a lot of work, and field dressing is more than messy. Especially if you cut the stomachs. I'd like to go Elk hunting in the Rockies, but it will be a while before I can do that
the last time i had anything to do with hunting was half a lifetime ago or longer. i have no problem with anyone killing something eat, provided they actually eat it and aren't just out there to see what they can get away with killing.
Yeah, its people who go into the countryside to blast little animals just for the 'fun' of it that piss me off...unfortunately we get that a lot around here, especially on public holidays. If the animal is not endangered and the hunters actually make use of it after killing it, I dont have a problem with it at all.
Then shouldn't everyone who eats vegetables be willing and able to grow and kill their own plants? Mostly kidding... but really, people totally disrespect plants and no one cares about that.
I don't eat much meat, but I have no problem supporting my local farm and buying meat from them instead of raising and killing cows myself. But if I was starving out in the woods I would definitely shoot to eat.
Not much of a hunter but if I was hungry and needed some food, you bet I would shoot something to eat. I do go fishing a lot and I do keep fish when I catch legal ones (not very often, lol) and have a nice fish fry.
I'm not a city girl. I'm "country" through and through. I'm not sure about the crossbow bit; and large mammals are a bit specialist. But give me a shotgun and I'd happily shoot at game birds, rabbits, hares, pigeon (they're vermin, not game ...) I'll pluck and draw a bird, skin a rabbit ... they're necessary skills. And unlike Peri ... as long as the birds ae going to be eaten by somebody at the end of the day, I really couldn't care less if it is the person who actually shoots them or somebody else.
I didnt mean to imply that I think people should consume ONLY meat that theyve killed and prepared themselves, that would be ridiculous. What I meant was I think that someone should give it a go at least once in their life if theyre going to eat meat thats neatly packaged and prepared for them...just so they get an idea of where the food comes from and what it ultimately entails. Maybe you misunderstood me? I agree with that entirely...
i have trouble even boiling a lobster when its live. i am a proffesional chef and have thought about this topic as im conflicted about it. i cook and serve all different types of meat and fish but yet i dont think that i have the heart to take an animals life. if it came down to it and im in the woods about to starve i could. but normally ill just let someone else take care of that and ill cook it up for people and myself. lol conflicted
thats how i lost the first job i ever had in a restaurant, cos i refused ta take the lobsters out of the tank in the catch net an send them up in the lift for the chef ta drop them into the boiling hot water.i started the job on a monday an i was sacked by the friday. i think shooting an animal would be a lot less cruel than boiling one alive.
