Shopping at a Headshop

its like entering a bar. they wont necessarily id you if you a) look valid or b) dont care.

the biggest thing to remember is that there is a noticable difference between
that kid stalking around avoiding eye contact and galking at the merchandise
and the guy who comes in, remembers that hes buying tobacco supplies, and strikes up informed conversation.

my tips:
1) NEVER say bongs, buds, or "hits". (and any other common terms)
2) Spend extra time looking at the vaporizers. ask what temps they reach, or what the cost of a replacement tube is.

 

I've been going to the same head shop for years and I never got IDed, even when I was clearly underage.

 

Here you have to show I.D. to get in the door(actually its Washington since Idaho doesn't sell anything glass except hookahs) and if you are 18 but don't have ID you can't even browse.

 

if all else fails you could simply run into the headshop, grab the first bong you see and run outta there

 

yea i just bought a new small travel pipe from my favorite headshop, and i had to explain that i just had a "small amount of... tobacco that i had to smoke."

 

Wow, that's lame.

 

The best headshops around here need I.D. to browse, but all of the tobacco shops that sell glass pipes, and even one of the strictly glass shops will sell to you if you and not give a shit. In fact I bought my nice dry hammer and all of my spoon bowls from the headshop that sells to minors. I love that place.

Here they immediately ask you for your id when you walk in and they scan it to make sure it isn't fake. But it's definately worth it.

 

Well I tried it everything in the shop was inside glass cabinets and when I asked to buy a 'glass pipe' (a shotgun pipe), he immediately said 'sorry you have to be over 18'. I don't have fake ID or anything so I didn't have a hope in hell of bluffing it.
I waited around a while to see if anyone would get one for me, but everyone who entered just glared at me.
Oh well, I'll just see if I can accompany my over 18 friends on their next trip to town.

lame? yes. but thats the name of the game. i have enough glass, and needed something different. and this is my headshop that ive been going to since i started smoking, so i never want to lose my shopping privileges, and it was cool, me and the girl had a nice laugh

 

I think most headshops are a rippoff, theres one main one in my city called Chronic Enlightenment and everybody acts like it's the holy grail of headshops just because they carry all the fancy new shit.

I was in there with my friend once and I asked the lady "why the fuck is everything so expensive, I've seen that $29.99 pipe for $12.99 at almost every convenience store".

She said "Okay I'm gonna let you in on a secret, the only reason your paying these big jacked up prices is because your buying them from Chronic Enlightenment, it's all because of the name, people want other people to see that they shop here because apperantly it's the hot thing at the moment.

But she did say that there were lots of quality pieces in the store but their even mroe expensive.

Actually I might go an buy this bong from there because it's $40 but it's supposed to be $75 but they broke the bowpiece for it and they dont have another one that fits it, I could just make my own bowlpiece and have a sick bong.

Oh yeah and they built this place right across the street from a high school so you can only imagine the money they make.

 

dont go to big headshops, name is nothing. you want something smaller, quality over quantity. and the older it is the better, mine is as old as i am, family owned is best. these ppl know what they are doing, they are fair
