School does so much more for you that you realize right now. It isn't just about the molar mass of sulfur dioxide... it's preparing you for the life that is in front of you... the years and years that you havn't even started living yet. School is not so much meant to teach you facts, but to train your brain. To make you a better learner, a wiser person, and to increase your intelligence (not knowledge) all around. School is also an amazing way to improve your people skills. Sure there are gonna be people that you dont like, but you gotta learn to deal with it... your gonna be working with/living with/doing things/people that you dont particularly like for the rest of your life. You're young, and when you stop to think about it, the amount of what school does for you in relation to how much of your life it "wastes" is completely worth it.

Listen to tommboy. I fucking MISS high school, man. It was FREE- I just dropped $1175 of my own money just to get my class schedule the other day. And I still have about another grand or so of shit to buy. You don't even have to invest any real effort in the classes to get by because the teachers care less about the material than you do. 65% of the time you're there you're just bullshitting with your buddies. The neatest thing about high school is the overwhelming sense of what you're doing doesn't count, that it's just some prepatory stage you're getting thru so never actually feel like you're making a major mistake or wasting your life.

HAH well I just turned 18 and I am a senior.. the first day of school like 2 weeks ago I was like fuck this.. but i guess I am gunna stay since I made it this far... even though a GED is way easier to get than a HIgh school diploma.

wow, in my opinion I would say, no. You are so young sweetie! Everyone wants to drop out at 14, but..if you are going to do it anyways, I can't change your mind.. but hopefully I can help you out..

there are so many things to do in this world-it's mind bobbling! (most with a college education, though..or at least a high school diploma)
what you are thinking of doing sounds great..idealy, but you may get out there and see it gets a bit more hard..you run out of money..you have no where to stay..etc.
There's so many things you CAN do if you really want to get out..check out pilgrimages, I'm not sure how you'd get to one, but you could figure it out..green peace, peace corp, united planet, traveling to random places and doing labor work..a lot of those things you must be 18, so more the reason to STAY a little while longer, and then go.. if that's what you really want.
I say don't go, you may regret it one day. If you do though, look into ALL your options before you leave.
Leave when you're ready not to come back.

money wise if you have any comp skills you could always conterfeit money as nowadays if you know what your doing it's very hard to tell real money from the fake plus that way your not screwing over anybody but the government and the material world.

Hang in there...two years isn't that long. Get done with school, go travel, see the world, meeet people, do whatever you want to do...then maybe come back, do some University or something, or not...but you at least have to get the dumb piece of paper, as pointless as it seems some days. My last year of highschool was the best year. Just hook up with some people that send some positive vibes your way...you can make it threw anything that way.

yeah, it is important. When I was in school we had guitar class. I laughed at all those axl rose wannabes with the long hair( that long beutiful long blond hair that I now wish I could have ). Why would "I" want to take that stupid worthless class that will bring me no money when I grow up. Now 15 years later, I wish I had taken that guitar class that was FREE. Chicks like a well educated man. They dig the one who can play the guitar. Also, I thought English was useless since I speak it already. Now, I wonder why we dont say : Speak you english? Like in german or spanish. I wish I knew. I probably slept through that lesson. Chemistry...I may be able to answer that eternal question: Where do we come from, what is life/conciousness and all that spiritual stuff but I didn't take chemistry. How does the brain work and how come I can hear myself when I think as I write this? Besides, what the hell are you going to do with all that time? Be lazy and nonproductive? Will your parents accept that and just take care of you like a baby? I wouldn't. I would give you a shovel to earn your keep in my house from dawn to dusk. You will have to work long and hard since 14 year olds don't get paid very much especially if they don't have any marketable skills. They are a dime a dozen. Why would 'they' pay you any more than youre worth?

high school... is an enormous pain in the ass. try to tough it out... unfortunately i know that having any fashion of high school education is necessary to get even the most menial of jobs... my suggestion would be to make older friends who are out of high school, it helps, because in high school no one can get past their petty high school problems... once you're out you realise the world is actually much bigger. good luck...

Ugh, I hated school. All of it. Both my brother and sister quit. I did graduate. Believe me, it is important. I am so much better off than they are. It's so difficult for them. They are both living at poverty level.

I am 18, I am a high school drop out. I have my diploma from the GED tests, and I am currently applying for schools. I would have one more year of highschool if I didnt' drop out, but I can definitely get into a lot of schools WITH my GED and from doing really well on the GED tests. If you drop out, get your GED. It is the easiest test you will ever take. I personally could not stand the people or structure that came along with regular schooling and it just wasnt for me. I was in the gifted program and everything, I just hated it. I am interested in learning, I want to continue learning but the fact is, I wasnt LEARNING in school, it WAS just a waste of time. The teachers were idiots, and completely distant. It isn't the kind of environment that allows abstract thought or... lateral thinking persay. I don't know, kids are really closed minded too, if you can't relate to the student body or the teachers, its really tough. I was a loner. basically all I have to say is maybe stick with it for a little while and see how miserable you become. If it really gets that bad later, drop out and get a job then get your GED when you're old enough. You can still continue your education in a setting that is better for you even if that means attending a community college for a year. Most state schools accept GED applicants.

Right now you really dont know what you are going to want later in life. When i was 14 i hated science. I thought there was no reason to learn it. Now i kinda like it ;). People change.
Keep going to school and keep an open mind ready for change. Later in life if you drop out of school you could find yourself poor, sad and with out a bright future. Not saying thats how it would end up but it does for many who dop out that i know of.
If public school is really bothering you though, mabye it is time to look into homeschool.
