i went off a shit load of medicine, i think you posted in that thread.... well it sucks all ass but if your strong you will survive, its up to you =\
Prove it. what test is there demonstrates a chemical imbalance in the brain, and what exactly is the standard that we're measuring them against? No one knows. Do you know any psych or shrink who tests for a "chemical imbalance" before dosing their patients. All I'm saying is ADs should be a last resort, people underestimate their mind power. Isn't it possible the method of thinking one possesses could serve as catalyst for a downward spiral? Stop thinking that drugs are the end all be all for mental or physical manifestations. Yes, I'm aware of how useful drugs are in some cases but we rely on them entirely too much.
I ALREADY SAID: There isn't an available diagnostic test for chemical imbalances. Yet, before they could test for diabetes, they knew it was a disease and it was treated, a LOT of diseases have no definative physical test yet can BE treated with things we KNOW work on the disease. I am a migrane patient, there is NO known neurotransmitter or neurological test for migraine, YET, we know it is neurotransmitter related (from research) and neurological and we KNOW that certain drugs work for migraines. MUCH of medicine is like this. There is NO physical test for PAIN. YET we KNOW that it occcurs, it has drugs which treat it, and they work. If you really know pharmaceuticals, you would know this. MOST of medicine is based on PATIENT REPORTING of symptoms and how they concur with how we know other patients have responded who have similar symptoms. TESTING isn't the be all and end of of practicing medicine. Medical care is expensive enough, we don't NEED to test every patient for certain things we KNOW the diagnosis for, and we KNOW will respond to a certain treatment. I supplied you with one well known study on neurotransmiiter TESTING, yet you chose to ignore it. I find it odd you posting on the psychadelics forum, working (supposedly) in a pharmacy and being a chemical phobic. Very odd. You are not reading what I am posting anyway, so I quit.
But WHY? They work, they are safe, they help the overwhelming majority of patients receiving them. ...need proof? One in fourteen Americans takes an antidepressant! I am sure you will use that info to say they are being overmedicated. . . but on the other hand, MAYBE THE MEDS ARE WORKING!!! Helping people! Isn't that the ultimate goal. . . or should we let one in fourteen people continue to suffer until a chemical diagnostic test is available?
i went off mty anti depresant and i had to have m shot gun hidden from me and i had to take 3 3mg bars to calm down enough to were i could even talk to some one, its a bad idea to cold turkey off any thing. thats all i have to say. my sister went off her paxil and she was a strait up bitch, now shes better.
ok, i havent posted for a while, and i figure i should update yall on my current situation the past coupple of weeks i've been sick but like the sunday before that, i forgot to take the paxil, and when i got sick, i felt like i couldn't take it. but anyways, i got better and i remembered to take it, so i've been taking it for the last 4 or 5 days. now on the 3rd or 4th day i took it, i noticed that i didn't feel as hungry as i normally am. yester day all i had to eat was a kit kat bar and bannana for breakfast around 10:00 , then around 4:00 at work i ate like 4 or 5 little peanut butter cups, and then for my dinner break at like around 6:00 i had 2 cheese burgers some frinch fries and a drink. and this morning all i could bring myself to eat was a nutrigrain bar. and it's not like i don't have anything to eat at home, i have soups and oatmeal and lots of other stuff. i just can't tell if i'm hungry or not. so my new question is: is this whole not fealing that hungry thing a side affect of the paxil? i think i read on the perscription bag that it was. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx ps: when i was perscribed the paxil, there was no diagnostic test to say weather or not i needed the paxil. so i have no idea if i was mis-perscribed or not. all i do know is when im not on the paxil, im a completely different person. trust me, you don't want to know what im like without paxil in my system.
it could be the stress of your body going back on and back off of your meds. You should take your Paxil, and take it EVERY day (missing 1 day every now & then will have little to no effect, but don't miss more than that!) You can take it when you are sick, just eat a little something first, or take an OTC acid reducer (ie Zantac 150mg, Pepcid 20mg) about an hour before. Medication compliance is important, espicially with chronic medications. You brush your teeth everyday. . . make your medicine part of your routine. It is important. I know, because I work in pharmacy, am studying pharmacy, and I have taken antidepressants for 10 years! Everytime you resume your medication you talk about how well it works. . . let the results motivate you to TAKE IT EVERYDAY! Life is TOO short to not take full advantage of every tool available to make you happy !!! Good luck to you!
