Mkay didn't know we were in kindergarten class, answering in picture form. That still doesn't answer why you think it's demeaning. It's ok, I can tell you don't have a real answer.
I agree with the people that say it's demeaning and I'm not even sure why though. It's still a job and and someone could probably argue that any other job is demeaning too. I wouldn't say it's demeaning for the people that look like they enjoy spinning signs though, just for the people that look like they don't want to be doing it. When I see them looking miserable it makes me feel uncomfortable. Maybe they feel like they wish they could be doing something more worthwhile with their time. Is it almost dehumanizing to have someone be basically a billboard? A sign could hold itself, well with the help of a wall or a stick..
People in restaurants could also go to the kitchen and pick up their own food. Yet we still have waiters.
yeah but the point is, the person is reduced to performing only one basic function ...being a glorified stick/wall.
but people go out to restaurants so they can relax and have their food served, they're paying for the service so they don't have to serve themselves
It would for me. There would probably be a lot of people in the kitchen and I don't like being around too many people. I get bad anxiety. I also hate cooking so I really enjoy when I get to go out to a restaurant and not have to worry about anything.
What if you get a little light on the table that goes on when your food is ready and they make sure that there are no other people in the kitchen when you come collect your food?
I doubt I'd be the only one in the kitchen. There would probably have to be someone in there to show you where things are. And wouldn't there be people in there making food also? or do the customers also make their own food?
