That is what is called a mythical construct, much like elves or fairies.

Unless you are talking on a more biological level and reffering to some instinct, some very natural desire to want to achieve and have control over the world, in which case you once again agreed with us, yet tried to make your own version of the idea, unique and far deeper than ours.

This is the bit that I would disagree with out of your song. The idea that life = dying is not a new one, and I think we can all agree that whether or not this idea rings true depends greatly on the individual, but while we may be impatient as a species I definitely don't think a long life can be considered a bad thing by anyone but the most negative and cynical of people.

Urgh, and why do you do this in other peoples' threads?

In fact, take it as a complement...its actually because I respect you and think that you are intelligent that I want to enter into this, with the expectation that I might learn something. If anyone else had posted this I would have ignored it.

I agree with your first point, and am not arguing it. Many things cause suffering. I'm just saying that if you remove them all we will still suffer for no obvious reason.

The song relates one possible cause for this inherent human suffering. The fact that we choose to live (as opposed to die) doesn't change the fact that we are still dying. Even if we never think of it, we are still aware of the fact that we are dying. As humans, we do not know how to die. We may not consciously be aware of this, but we await death, we do not do this actively, or out of our own accord, we simply do this as an animal, almost as an instinct. The fact that we are aware of our own mortality, as a living being, with the ability to think and analyze being irrelevant, could potentially contribute or explain our eternal suffering.

Thinking about it, this would mean that animals also suffer this same suffering.

I did read the original post and I do think that what you said and what Pavel said the song is about, are not contradictory to each other.

The song is saying that we are experiencing a slow death and we suffer because we as a collective dont know hot do die and want to hold on to life, even though to live is to die.

You're saying that we suffer because our expectations dont match reality, wouldnt not knowing how to die, the inability to let go of something that is not really there, since we're only dying, mean that we're suffering because we expect something that is not real?

Those are just my thoughts. I dont see how you're saying different things, to me it's different aspects of the same.

"God" is just a fancy word, but I do see how you use it in this context. I'm probably overanalyzing the song to a ridiculous extent, but hey... I guess that we get our own meaning out of things.

But yes, we do not know it consciously, but we are aware of it subconsciously, which makes us suffer.

Yes, I am thinking on a more biological, animalistic level.

But no, it's not the same as your idea. Read my reply to Jimmy.

I do it for the lulz.

But thank you, I will take it as a compliment, and my truly trying to explain my understanding of the song to you.

What it implies is that we, as animals, not as humans consider a long life something "bad" (even though I do believe that that part of the song is a slight exaggeration) because it makes us suffer for longer, since we do not know or understand death, and do not know how to die, once we realize that life is actually a slow death. Yet again, this all happens on a subconscious level.

There is no waiting for death. It's happening, there is waiting for its conclusion.

No, they aren't conscious, we don't expect anything as mere animals.

This is what I was fucking saying in the first page, but you have once again twisted the whole thing around and made an enormous argument because your inability to recognize that you are just as dumb as everyone else.

I like you, I often like what you have to say, but fuck do you wear me out with your ability to turn a simple discussion into an endless satanic cycle of confusion.

    No...

    This is what you said:

    ...and that could mean anything.

But I'm glad that we agree.

2nd or 3rd page then. Die.

P.S. Ivy, this big font thing is really fun. Thanks for giving me the idea.
