What state do you live in? Because some states don't require you to have a catalytic converter. And even if your state does, you can just wait until inspection time to get it done.

Two for two here.

Had a Ford... '96 Contour. Not a bad car really. Four banger but only could get 24 mpg reliably around town. EVERY mechanic I inquired said it was perfectly normal. Finally it died this spring. Got a '99 Civic. Car runs like a dream... and I haven't gotten less than 30 mpg... around town! Car runs every bit as good and all the pick-up from stop that the Ford had... and I ain't dropping the money for gas that I used to- and the big three INSISTED that making more efficient cars was too difficult and the government just let them get away with that lie- oh wait.... THEY rely on collecting per gallon tax money for yacht paymen... ahh I mean highway maintenance... yeah, that's it

It (Honda) has- manual windows... didn't realize those fucking existed any more. EVERY car I've owned that had power windows- AT LEAST one crapped out... this included the aforementioned Ford. The electric motors on hand crank windows can't die because they fucking don't exist!

OK- I could really rant on and on about American cars but this is not the proper thread for that. So in closing- bummer about your day. my Neon has nothing automatic except for the transmission.. manual windows.. no cruise.. no automatic head lights... nada.. which in the end just means less to worry about

 

my parents are finally giving in and getting me a car and they're highly considering this semi-pimped silver neon. it's got like full tints and a massive sound system, and it's relatively cheap. my dad just hates buying american cars though... if it was made by anyone foreign i'd have it by now :S

 

I'm rockin a Contour as well stinkfoot its the SVT though so i have to put premium gas in it which sucks even more.

 

i wish i didn't have automatic windows. in my chevy and ford cars the window has came off the track several times. it's a bitch to take apart the door to fix it.

 

93 Honda Civic EX - fuckin great car. power everything, 5-speed. but the damn thing is a dent magnet....

i laugh at people riding neons - faggot kids try to rev their engines at me with them things...but then again faggot kids try to rev their civic engines too :\

moral of the story is foreign > domestic ...anything anyone tries to say against that will be shut down

 

I had a GL... again, NOT a bad car- dependable until the timing belt went. I might have actually fixed that but the occasional but growing frequency of anti freeze odor when hot, noises from the rear suspension, and a mechanical grinding sensation when pulling a hard left suggested I switch chariots instead of dumping more money into a 135k mile pit.

 

...and their Fords, Chevys, and Dodges will blow head gaskets.

 

i like running cars into the ground tho

and not everyone that drives a neon is a rot rodder.
