we're in a position to be the best off. I would consider being int he top five nations of wealth-the best off. Sure there are a couple of caountries with more money than us but we should be able to take care of ourselves...since we feel the need to take care of other countries so well...

it's suppossed to be the resource to be the best. In my industry we have a saying-form follows funding. I can't run a program I want unless I bring a grant in for it. America is the fifth wealthiest country in the world-we have funding-we should have had form from day one of this disaster. Best off-yes it's certainly better living in a waelthy country than a poor one. I sure as hell would not want to live in ethiopia. Best off in terms of policy?-no there are a lot of other countries with less funds than us that have better form. I think this past week was a perfect example of how we are not best off in prepardness, equality and response-yet we should be the 'best off' because we have the money. Unlike other countries we have no excuse.

 

Where do you get fifth from? So far as I know it has the largest GDP, and second per capita.

I get angry when it's justifiable. ie-our goverment sitting on a natural disaster for days just because it's an impovrished area, i get angry when somone tries to make me out to be the bad guy and harasses my boyfriend to such a point he doesn't even want to come on here again. I get angry when it's justifiable. I am trying to distance myself from my sources of anger hence why I don't come on here often people's opions seem pretty right winged for a forum full of 'hippies' who are supossed to be concerned about the common good.

i know...i hate the finger pointing...we were just discussing this, kc and i in another forum....finger pointing doesnt do anything...
yes our govt sucks and didnt respond when it should but lets jsut use our energy now that the relief has arrived, lets use our energy to promote peace instead of being pissed of what was....
we can only change this moment...and each of us reading the thread, responding in hate and discontent and anger and disbelief...have but this very moment....to promote love and hope and well wishes and prayers and good vibes and light....
the world is still so beautiful...we do create our own reality...with ourselves and with all in the land....

Germany was going to send emergency helters and machines that would clean water to have drinking water, but a few days ago, bush told us that the us doesn't need our help.

There already are collections from the red cross and other charities.
So yes other countries are willing to help, but why the hell is bush so arrogant saying he doesn't need help on this????

And yes people are donating, at least in this neibourhood. The news are full of pictures of biloxi and new orleans, so why the hell do you believe that europeans wouldn't help?????
And by the way the signal bush sent our way was pretty clear... wasn't it? Maybe we could have helped a lot of people that are dieing from dehydration.
