The age of consent in Alaska is 16 as it is in many other states.

So once they are 16 they are legally free to have sex with a 40 y/o.

I just hope that we've helped our dd to understand all the consequences of becoming sexually active. I hope to help her stay out of situations where she might be pressured to make bad decisions before she is ready.

Anyway we let him take her to a movie this afternoon. At least he wasn't driving a VW bus with a cushy bed in the back.

good for you i learned by making my own decisions. and you can tell your children anything about whatever and sometimes they listen and sometimes they dont. i myself started dating in the 6th grade but didn't become sexually active until i was almost 18 and had been with that guy for quit awhile. for all you know she wont even like the guy

I think you made the right choice letting them date. When I was 17 I had a 14 year old girlfriend. Her parents weren't thrilled with the idea to begin with, but after a while they saw that I really cared about their daughter and I wasn't just interested in sex. We did start to have sex, but we had been together for almost two years by that point, and it was a decision we made together, not me pressuring her. I think showing your daughter love, understand, and support is the best way to handle this. As long as she knows that she can come to you with anything reguarding her relationship with this boy I think things will turn out well.
