and where is welfare considered a career choice? Also what the hell state actually gives people enough welfare for them to live comfortably if they get approved for any?

 

I have personally known several people who received Government aid that lived a lot better than me. They collect aid and earn there own money under the table. This is what I would like to prevent. Don't get me wrong.....I don't want to eliminate aid. I just think its equally ignorant to assume everyone who uses it needs it, as it is to assume everyone is abusing it.

 

Well yeah that sort of thing is screwed up and only hurts the people who do really need the help. So I agree with you wanting that to stop...I just don't think that represents the majority of the people getting the aid. If it is then that is screwed up but from what I've seen most people on welfare need it...and a lot of people without welfare could really use it but cannot access/be approved for such aid.

 

Maybe "using out of context" would be more appropriate, but believe me....my grip is just fine.

And "people like me?" You don't know me buddy. I Speak out about Corperations abuse MORE than the poor. You might night see that here because that's "preaching to the chior." Everybody knows how fucked they are....but that's not the topic at hand.

 

I also do not know were the majority lies. It just seems that people forget there is both, and that both need to be addressed. Everything's so extreme....one side wants to eliminate entirely and the other wants to enlarge it.

My stance is that it should be made more efficient.

 

Why do you insist on fixing the problems we face from the bottom up?

How does it make sense to take from those with the least, and ignore those who have the most who are commiting larger and more far reaching abuses?

I was talking to those that have the capability to understand that sharing is something that is best done from those who have to those who do not have.

Someone who is not capable of understanding that, should likely just ignore it all as they have been their whole lives.

 

More efficient is good.....but that said I honestly think this is a sick society and would remain so even if it were made more efficient. I society where such a safety network is not nessisary would be good in my opinion. But since I am not in that sort of society I guess I'd say might as well make what we have as efficient as possible for now.

 

I understand and agree. I often come off as someone who lacks compassion. I need to work harder not to project that image. I just get frustrated when I drive past The Government Housing Projects by my house everyday, and see $50,000 vehicles in the driveway when I'm driving a 96 Civic.

 

Well, perhaps you should start driving through the rich neighborhoods instead then and see which frustrates you more...

This is why we never get single pay health care that works so well in France,Denmark,Sweden,Canada,ect--you know--the civilized way to help people. NO-Everybody's gonna get rich. The rich did by paying legislators to eliminate regulations on-----well --you know or you don't. Same old crap I've been hearing for 50 years.--those lazy bastards need to get jobs. In the rich neighborhoods tax dollars aren't paying for their house. I'm not frustrated because they have nice things.....I don't want a $50,000 car. I'm frustrated because they drive that car to the grocery store and pay for their food with food stamps.

I admit though that I let it get to me more than it should. Life has been handing me lemons lately and I keep forgetting how to make lemon aid. I've been far to grumpy about things, and it's not healthy.....and it's not my style. Need to find more love.

This just shows that you don't really understand how the system works.

Tax dollars ARE paying for their house... and their cars, and everything else they own...

Not only in terms of the taxes they DON'T pay because of the system that those with lower incomes do, but also in terms of the governement money that supports their activities, which amounts to a hell of a lot more then ALL of the social services combined.

You act as if I think that government aid is the reason for our current crises. Which would be stupid. I'm just saying that enabling these freeloaders isn't going to help anything. We are in this situation, and it's there's nothing we can do now but try and get out of it. Making our Government more efficient in all aspects would help that effort. The attitude "there are freeloaders and there always will be" isn't going to help anything except those freeloaders.
