I got mad when all of that happened but I don't agree with helping some bastard who has no intentions of getting a job, I don't feel like paying for his injuries. I don't feel like contributing to supporting cancer and killing ourselves, why should I put money forth towards some jackass who got lung cancer whom smoked 20+ years knowing exactly what would happen in the end? We don't need to encourage socialized healthcare, we need to encourage SELF RESPONSIBILITY! when will people stop this suicidal habits and start taking care of themselves? And another thing, I remember shit tons of people pissed when Bush decided to start tapping our phones 'because of terrorist suspicion' and bullshit like that. What do you mean, we waged war on a country whom wasn't a threat? How many people were killed when some towel head bastard drove a plane into our family & friends? The patriot act is some bullshit and I remember when everyone got pissed about that. All these liberal fucks just say all that bs because they want to blame all of the finger pointing on racial issues. I don't see much problem with the healthcare system we have right now, I mean sure it has a few problems here and there but why not just perfect it instead of trying something completly different while already being in debt? People DIE, it's a natural part of life, we can't play God and save the world.. The only reason Americans will agree with half the crap obama has to say is because he offers to take some of the responsibility from the US citizens, well it aint gonna happen, the only way we can begin to fix this is by taking some responsibility for ourselves, quit pointing fingers and WORK TOGETHER. I'm 17 y/o and scared as fuck to wake up to a world so blind and self-destructive. I want a family, make enough money to get by and live a long and happy life. It's possible but hard as hell in todays world. I just wanna GET BY! I don't see it happening, I see a hard struggle ahead and as much as I don't want to face it, I WILL. This is America, we're built off of hardships, "We're Americans and Americans had a lot of hardships but we're going to fight this THROUGH." Damn straight we will.
The truth is that the current health care system we have is NOT laissez faire. No aspect of our economy is. There are regulations and--what's worse, government subsidies, EVERYWHERE.
Okay so bold #1. Sadam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, had ZERO WMD's in his country, and the insurgents weren't in his country until AFTER we invaded. There is you illegal unjust war. #2. Many people have lost their jobs. Jobs that would supply health insurance for that person and their family, so what are they supposed to do now? Go into massive debt and eventually bankruptcy just to be able to pay for medication? Obama's plan is a CHOICE you or your friends/ family do not have to get it no one HAS to get it. Healthcare should not be a privilege. Life should not be a privilege.
yes but government regulations are necessary. owning the biggest healthcare provider, is not. sure we don't have a pure laissez faire economy anymore, but we need to stick to our guns where we can. the problem with the world today is that where people fail then there are a whole bunch of other people trying to fix the problem created by their failure. so rather than learning from the mistake people become more entrentched in it and support it further. 'it must be right, we live in the age of technology' they say. you fail, you lose, you learn from your mistakes. end of story. that does not mean that you keep on trying and trying to make the same miserable idea work. the mistake that was made was that our entire system of civilization is based on something that has become so far from nature that of course it is going to become self destructive. when people are losing their jobs because of a faulty economy then that does not mean we need to save these people. what we need to do is fix the economy, and let our mistakes fall behind us. they can't pay for healthcare because the entire system that it is based on is WRONG. sure the healthcare is optional but you have got to be plain ignorant if you think that this isn't going to have a massive impact on the entire healthcare industry in america. so whether you choose to buy it or not, it is still going to affect you.
AHA!!! Desos you've found the answer !! So all that needs to be done is completely revamp civilization and develop a civilization that is more in tune with nature. Damn it's so fucking obvious how come nobody else thought of it. Desos, check your zipper, your naiveté and ignorance is showing. Anytime someone start a statement with "the problem with the world today.." I know that bullshit is sure to follow. I don't have the answer or even understand all the complexities of the problem, I doubt you do either, I just know that it really is sad that there are people dieing in this country because they can't afford health care. That is the real heart of the issue, and if you believed and lived the "spiritual" crap you are always spouting you would see the need for a change in this country. Greed really is the main culprit here. Same with the war on drugs. Remove the capacity for outrageous profits and you then may have a chance for a system that works. How to do this you ask ? I don't have a clue, and neither do you.
well its not going to happen by passing off all our authority and power to the government. it's time for the individual to take back some of their power. i may not know what works, but i do know what does not work. so i don't know why we would repeat the mistakes of our neighbors overseas. there are people dieing all over the world because they can't afford the bare necessities. welcome to earth. it's harsh. if you really think we have it so bad then maybe you need to leave the country for a little while. becuase the other 5 billion or so people would kill to have a chance to have what we have. our weakness is a spiritual weakness, it is sure not in any of the material aspects of life. america is ripe with material wealth. remove the capacity for outrageous profit at what cost? our freedom? i don't think so. because that is absolutely the direction we are headed with this. we need a change, but this is not the right direction to be taking.
Exactly the reason why people here SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO DECENT HEALTH CARE REGARDLESS OF THEIR ECONOMIC STATUS!!!!!!!!!!! What part of that are you not getting? Let me ask a personal question Desos. If you suddenly became ill and needed hospitalization who would pick up the tab? You personally? An insurance company, and if so who's paying the premium for it? Daddy? Until you have to decide between paying a doctor bill or feeding your family yourself out of your own pocket, then you have a very limited view of the problem. On my daughters bill the cost of supplies is $218.16. Now that is for a plastic finger splint and an ACE bandage. About $8 at the drug store. That is where the bulk of the problem lies, GREED. Everyone has to get a peice of the pie and hence the prices go up and up.
yes but we can pay for it, because unlike in other countries, we have the opportunity to make as much money as we want. the opportunities we have here are just so much greater than those in other countries. if we are so concerned with greedy doctors then why don't we just place restrictions on how doctors conduct their business, to eliminate any unneccesary charges and excessive examinations. i.e. they get everything done in the most efficient way and don't overcharge people for basic supplies. because right now doctors will sometimes not even follow the correct procedure to make you come in multiple times to charge you multiple bills. if we could control this, then the system could become much better. maybe some house or senate committee could oversee the conduct of medical business. also it would help to launch some programs to educate the general public on dealing with simple illness and wounds. because you really DON'T need to be using your healthcare that much. really only for disease control, and serious illness and injury. some of the things people go to doctors for are just rediculous. then, later, if that was still too expensive, we could add in a healthcare system for the lower income brackets similar to welfare.
Honestly this is just the Republicans not wanting the Dems to have another thing under their belts that help the People. Did you hear on the new how they are crying about not being listened to? While the same thing happened in reverse for 8 years. It's a riot.
That's not going to happen as long as we have our A/C, interwebz, and cheese burgers. Might as well sit back and enjoy the ride like all of the fatties/pilled up people.
our healthcare isnt going to be exactly like europes right? i thought it is going to be like a mix of theirs and ours so we can have the best aspects of both. but the main problem here is why this is in the LSD section, unless theyre gonna start giving out prescription acid move this shit to the politics section.
Oh what a surprise: the party of torture and genocide is against modern medical care. They're not even human fucking beings.
I live in Europe, and it does. I'm also not seeing any evidence at all that competition yielding better results in the States, or that the problems that socialised healthcare experiences stem from a lack of competitiveness. It's a lack of qualified staff if anything. The idea of socialised healthcare is that it's free on the point of delivery. I find the idea that it should not be downright barbaric, especially in a nation where the resources are there and readily available to do so.
What I came in here to say is that, sure, there are arguments against socialised healthcare, just as there are arguments against the alternative. However, a great deal of what you are hearing about socialised healthcare is politically motivated alarmist nonsense, and very calculatedly and directly aimed at protecting the interests of the Republican Party's members in the major pharmaceutical companies. This information is not even hard to come by. What troubles me though is how much contempt it takes for the rest of the world to believe what these people are telling you. Socialised healthcare is an option and you can take it or leave it, but don't let anyone tell you that it's some barbaric practice of the evil empire, which is how it's being painted by those with vested interest.
thank you for driving this point home! at least someone here gets it. DONT BUY INTO THE HYPE! big pharma and healthcare corporate scum want to keep raping citizens for medicine and doctors visits. fuck repugnicans and the greedy corporate interests they protect.
I would like to stress also that I object in this case because of the specific nature of the situation - i.e. that politicians are telling bare-faced lies to protect their business interests. I am not anti-corporate as a matter of principle. I'm not against private healthcare either - lots of people "go private" in the UK if they can afford it - but I think it's reasonable for anyone in any country as affluent as ours to expect a certain minimal level of healthcare as a matter of routine. It's actually kind of embarrassing that you don't have it already.
I'm fairly certain that vested interests in the Senate will vote down and defeat the bill(s) that Obama's administration will pass to reform healthcare in the USA to make it more universal!
