If I was an American I'd be more worried about the taxes I'm paying for the War in Iraq and the War on Drugs than the 0.000000000000001 cents I'm playing per year because people steal from Walmart.

 

Yeah, I guess a homeless person stealing so he can have some food for the day is just as bad as a guy raping a girl.

Things are black and white and there's is no grey in between.

 

i would think it was everyone's duty to let it go when some homeless guy wanders off with some small shit of theirs. i had a guy steal my coat right out of my hands. what did it matter? i had 5 minutes of freezing and 5 other coats at home to match my outfits, for pete's sake. and WHO, i ask you, can actually eat when there's some hungry, rode hard and homeless guy sitting there drinking coffee to get warm? i can't. i have to hand over my food, for pete's sake, i can skip a meal. it's not that hard. i feel better watching them wolf their food down that i would have eating it myself, anyway. i don't care how they got there, i don't care why they're still there. not my business. i can't keep for myself something that i have more than enough of.

 

stealing in general is bad, and i don't think that everything is black and white, but everyone should work his things out and pay his food off

I usually give them something to eator cigs, not that cigs are a good thing, but they appreciate it.

 

yeah, disability, mental illness, complete lack of education and absolute no resources are top reasons for homelessness.

of course there is a reason. Probably drug addiction or alcoholism, maybe both, but people dont just wake up one day and say "hey, I want to become a crack addict and stand in a corner and beg people for money so I can get by today", there are things that happen that lead them to where they are and some people have really rough since the moment they come into this world. The reality is that we dont know what got them there, but I cant imagine it wasnt pretty and that makes me be compassionate to their situation.
I dont think stealing is right, but it can be justified. It all depends on the why and the circumstances.

well in my experiance and in my county people are homeless because they've lost evrything dye to alchohol, gambling... or they're just too lazy to work

 

If you don't want to sound mean then take the effort not to... otherwise don't pretend you have compassion when you don't.

 

Any money taken away from large corporations like Walmart is good to me.
I dont care if they stick their prices up- I dont shop there!
I dont mind the fact that theyre rich, but i do mind abuse of power. Slave and child labour, deforestation, so much pollution and packaging and poor wages and animal testing and building on good land, selling dangerous foods and even murder in some cases

And if someone is there starving out on the street and theres that massive lit building full of foods and the people profitting are so rich they can fritter away their money so carelessly as they do...im kind of gona be on the homeless dudes side

if i didn't know of people who had been arrested because of security cops watching them due to their poor appearance, i wouldn't have said what i did. some stores have security people watching customers on electronic monitors while others are watching them in person on the floor. the recording from the surveillance camera is saved for evidence to help convict. it doesn't even have to show them actually hiding what they're stealing. they just have to prove you were in the store and testify that they saw you take it. happens a lot. sure, it doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it's definitely a risk. stores don't hesitate to roust or harass homeless people because they know they're defenseless. i guess if you're a track star you could get clear of the place before they can arrest you...don't know how often that happens...

 

I personally think that there is very little excuse for being homeless in America.

But that still doesn't kill my pity for them.

 

I never said that i have compassion for them, it's a rough world out there and everyone chooses their own paths in life, why should i feel sorry for someone who made wrong decisions in his life?
From my life i learned that you shouldn't expect compassion from anyone. It's all a big surviving.

Because were all human beings and we ALL make wrong decisions
Because that could EASILY have been you out on the streets. If you werent born with the same fortune, or were born somewhere else or you got thrown out of your house at the wrong time or hooked on drugs and this all happened because both your parents were killed in a car crash which sent you into a major depression and the meds you took just made you worse and you didnt do well at school and no-one would hire you because you had a criminal record
My point is these things happen for many reasons. Sure, sometimes its because the person is weak or theyre a bum...but theyre still human, and were all capable of mistakes
Some of us are weaker than others. Does that mean we should lack compassion?
Also, you should care because caring makes you sane, caring is good for you, caring is healthy
It is UNhealthy to always look or the blame, to always judge so quickly and to not stop and think

Sure, you shouldnt EXPECT it because thatd be a big letdown. Does this mean you should give up compassion completely andnot give a shit about others? I think you should re-evaluate if you genuinely think so. But i doubt you meant that, because surely no-one thinks that
