It would have sucked too if this Quinn kid was indeed "playing the retard card" as you put it. they talk about wanted to be treated like normal people and given equal rights, but when they see that they can get off scot free for things, then it's suddenly ok for them to be given special treatment.

btw, what the hell kind of name is Quinn for a guy? sorry i just found that amusing

so if i decided that me not being able to decide who lives and who dies is a stupid rule, i shouldnt have to abide by it and it doesnt make me bad...

wow, Bush is sounding like more and more of a nicer guy now that you put it like that. he just thinks some rules are stupid I seee now, its what YOU decide is right and wrong that is right and wrong...i disagree [right and wrong are absolutes] and so does Socrates...yes, YOU MUST ANSWER TO SOCRATES!

lol...not quite to that extent. that certainly wouldnt make him a good guy if he killed someone. lets go back to the drinking example. assuming hes not a violent drunk, hes harming no one but himself if he drinks way too much. therefore he can still be considered a nice guy. I'm simply saying that if Fred gets in trouble, it doesn't necesarily make him a bad guy. If he does something actually harmful to another person, then he naturally wont be considered a good person. not because its against the rules but because he did something wrong.

What is the basis to deceide what hurts oneself and what hurts another?

besides, if you take this argument back to my original post, I said that, for the sake of argument, my classification of "not a god guy" who will follow the rules. In my experience, I don't support pot smoking [as many think this is simply "hurting themsleves"] cause i belive it to be wrong [as i do drinking as well as smoking tobacco] cause it does hurt more than just yourself. A couple years ago, 4 mounties were shot by a guy running a grow-op with assult weapons. How many times were people battered and abused when someoen who was drunk beat them up? how many small children were forced to smoke [second hand mind you] because their parents smoked in the same room/house/car as them?

Also, my point in the post where I brought in the "good guy" labeling, i asked how someone who is a "good guy" can get into trouble, and it is cause he likes to have fun. What kind of "fun" gets you in touble. I can have perfect fun sitting around playing Cranum, Risk [poorly] or Capture-the-Flag among other things like just visiting with people. I don't see how drinking is even "fun". for the most part, alcohol tastes bad on its own. So why drink somehting that tastes bad that makes you sick the next day, and on occasion, that same night?

So what if someone is a non-violent drunk? I still fail to grasp how a blatant disregard of rules [cause they are "stupid"] and then getting in trouble for it still allow for soeone to be "good"--I wouldnt say it makes them "bad" cause it isnt black and white, but it still doesnt make them "good", or at least be able to stay "good" as long as the action continues...

i actually agree about the morals being absolutes, to an extent. i think people create their own morals and realities but because of the common essence of humans that binds us together we all create the same morals, which deepdown everyone "knows", in the sense that deepdown the same actions appeal as good to people.

so when i say that if he thinks certain rules are stupid, i mean things like laws that may or may not be "right". killing is wrong, laws or not, so that wasnt the kind of thing i meant. sorry i wasnt specific earlier.

i do understand what you're saying...I'll admit I'm having a hard time coming up with any concrete answers to the question...its hard because like you said, it isnt all a matter of black and white.
