This hasn't been mentioned yet, and when I think about it, it's a top-10er for sure Schindler's List https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAH3RTRlCHY
I fucking love that movie. Its beautifully odd. I like most of the movies in this thread. These are what come to mind as quite memorable right now: Broken Flowers Dead Man The Science of Sleep (by the same director of Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind but much better, I recommend it) Akira The End of Evangelion The Rain People Badlands Days of Heaven I Heart Huckabees Spirited Away Grave of the Fireflies Princess Mononoke My Neighbour Totoro The Acid House Anchorman Trainspotting Borat The Outlaw Josey Wales The Good the Bad and the Ugly (I can't find the first 2 in the trilogy ) Dazed and Confused The Butcher Boy (only because I love the book) The Three Colours Trilogy The Empire Strikes Back Jesus' Son Edward Scissorhands I know there are far more but I can't remember them. I really liked these Documentaries: The Devil and Daniel Johnston Crumb American Splendour
Some that just pop into my mind. Magnolia Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii The Royal Tenenbaums Hoop Dreams in the Doc category Wizards
The Illusionist Shawshank Redemption Mighty Ducks To name a few, there are dozens and dozens. Ghostworld and Donnie Darko started to bore me very quickly. Garden State is annoyingly sentimental though I won't write it off as a bad film, I still enjoy it. Are you happy now that I am confronting innocent people about their film taste?
Well, you have me, if my taste is remotely excellent. Hell, most good films impact you on such a personal level that they are better off watched alone.
I agree, I just mean a lot of the pictures I like are met with indifference by others and there is less to talk about later. most people don't want to see anything they're not used to, they just want to be pandered to. my favorite director sums it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNMYmMDGZZ0
I seem to remember you being the most consciously elitist music snob before conspiracy ruled your life.
I agree. Rat, your entire philosophy on music, politics and life seems to revolve around yourself being infinitely superior to every other living being on the planet. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I am simply stating a fact.
I am horribly ashamed to say that I have never seen a single cassavetes flick, but I think a lot of it has to do with exposure and availability. I don't remember seeing any of his movies at the big arthousey video warehouse over the other side of town, thats pretty much where i'd see them if they were anywhere. Can you forgive my ignorance?
