    I have been listening to Sonic Youth for about 15 years, i would recomend not starting with daydream nation as it is a double albulm and has some very difficult parts. I would say start with sister or evol and then go forward in chroniclogical order.
    The fact that many people on here choose Goo as their favorite tells me they must be in the 17-25 bracket to have heard that one first probably on MTV. The book Daydream nation Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation (33 1/3) (Paperback)
    by Matthew Stearns (Author) is an excellent read for any long time fans out there.
