Naw mate, course not. You can't make gross generalizations about nowhere. I had a friend that grew up in Sao Paolo, Brazil. 19 Million People. Her daddy was some powerful, rich man. And he knew many many people that had been murdered, assasinated or died in some violent manner. But she grew up in a part of Sao Paolo that was beautiful. However, what I mean to say is that some cities are dangerous (Jo-burg, Sao Paolo, Miami, Lima, Detroit, Paris) while other big cities have comparatively little crime at all (Auckland, Brisbane, Stockholm, Kopenhavn, Cape Town), and while a visitor should always be careful when in an unknown environment, they should be MUCH more careful in some places than in others.

To Zimbo, Culture shock for Americans. I am South African. My Father came to SA as a young boy and my mum was born There. I'l tell you. When I moved here to the States I was exposed to more Blacks and other people of colour not to metion many Portuguese, Italian & Hispanic also Naragansett indians. just im my town alone!

The view might look different but very rich in culture.
